The session with @ned has just finished and I will share my notes with you. One of the reasons I came to SteemFest is to listen and possibly talk with @ned , which is the founder of Steemit Inc and a very important figure in the Steem community.
He was interviewed by @andrarchy and I am sure you cannot wait to read his thoughts and vision of our space.
First question was about his new company with the codename Destiny. While Steemit Inc focuses on the blockchain , Destiny will focus on building a new app that will enable and empower communities. From what I understood there will be a new app , a new User Interface for interacting with Steem blockchain and Steemit is in maintance mode until this new app will be released.
As I already wrote this new App will focus on building great communities. Communities were a big part of @ned's talk . He wants to bring communities , since throughout humanity's history communities was the driving force of innovation. This is where the sum of the parts is greater than the individuals. So, expect to see a lot of community based apps in the future.
@ned also wants to see companies thrive on Steem, just like @steemmonsters. But as impatient as he is and maybe many of us are we have to give it the time it needs to develop.
The biggest focus of the talk was in apps. I think this is the future of crypto. Apps with ease of use , like Instagram for example that will bring more people to the crypto space.
@ned said that the Proof-of-Brain concept was , in his opinion , one of the biggest innovations of blockchain and it has to be more effective. This will happen with the introduction of SMTs ( smart media tokens ), Steem like coins/currency/tokens that will help the better and more fair distribution of the cryptomoney that are created.
For example real world activities like running will be translated into coins. He didn't mention @actifit , but I do . It a great app and you should ude it. SMTs according to @ned will make Steem used by more people and this will affect Steem's impact and hopefully price.
We closed with some reflection on the future. @ned said that 5 years from now is too much time and a lot of thing might happen. Instead we should focus in the next 1 to 2 years and he expects some major breakthroughs in the app space.
It was a very interesting and revealing talk. Of course we all would like to hear more and ask him more questions. I have a couple myself and hope that I will meet him sometime during the event.
Am I more confident about Steem Blockchain after this talk ?
