What? Me!?!!? at SteemFest? Maybe you can help.

When @mikepm74 nominated me for a free steemfest ticket via: @firepower's Win a Free Ticket to SteemFest 2017, I didn't think to much about it, except that he's a great guy, and it was a really nice gesture.

Today I look at his post, and the nomination comment on @firepower's post, and I'm blown away by all of the support!

So I've been working out with some friends and family what it would cost me to make this trip to Lisbon. It goes without saying that this would be an amazing opportunity for my career on steemit(this is my "real" job).

  • I found a 10 day round trip flight for around $500usd.
  • There is a hostel for about $15 a night a 5 minute walk from the festival grounds.
  • I have been eating too much for a month or so just to get ready :) So my food budget is fine.

My financial adviser (apparently Steem-Life means I have one of those, now) says:

"I'm ballparking your trip at $2500K so far. I think you can easily do it for less, particularly if you use hostels."

My internal financial adviser says:

"If you have a plane ticket to Lisbon, You Can Figure Out The Rest."

I've had the co-operative living mindset for quite a while. To me this means, instead of buying something, I can offer some value to a person or a community, and get what I'm looking for in exchange or "around the same time" (it's not always tit for tat). Not that I'm against buying stuff, it's just not always convenient.

I don't have any money. My life savings is safely secured in a long term investment. Steem Power. I'll save you a trip to the wallet for now, that's around 500 sp. That's what I've earned from blogging in three months plus $40 or so I found to invest.

From what I can can figure, I would be an idiot not to go.

I am grateful to have some supportive friends, here on steemit who are willing to help me with some of the costs.

At this point, my decision is to get a plane ticket on credit this week (while there is a $500ish flight still available).

I know that I can count on my own internal resources. Having a ticket seems helpful though :-)

I would also be grateful for any donations or votes to help me with this incredible trip!

Any tips you have on the easiest way to spend SBD\Steem irl would be helpful.

I don't want to write a long post talking about all of the things that I do for and with this community. I suppose it's simpler if I say that I am forever grateful to be a part of this. I'm from the moon, so it will be nice to get back after a long time away from home. I don't worry about the immediate rewards for my efforts, and I'm not interested in getting rich, or at least not quickly. I just want to become a better writer every day. If my work is appreciated, then I am grateful. If I can get paid as well, this is ideal. Since I don't want to do anything else but keep Steeming, having to find another way to make money would be inconvenient.

Lets Grow Together.

For your consideration I have left a few links to posts I have written.

"In my first few days of writing, I spent 5-8 hours a day on articles. A lot of research and effort went into creating them. Not that they were earning a lot. That part wasn't as important to me. A lot of what I write here is the foundation for what will later become even better and more informative in it's later form."

"I hope that we are all familiar and in love with, the concept of open source software. The type of collaboration it allows, and the liberties it allows, affords a much higher quality of software."

An article I wrote for the First Edition of The Inquiring Times was:

and finally:

Here I open my heart about how working with the Mission Statement for @msp-waves helped to shape my life here on Steemit.

Thank you for your consideration, and thank you to all the people who have supported my nomination. I feel honored to have the association of all of you beautiful people.
