I’ve spent the last couple of days making last minute preparations of everything I need to get the most of Steemfest. The excitement I feel is very real and for me to say I’m “looking forward to it” is an understatement. Judging from the phenomenal success of the last event, there is not one doubt in my mind that this one is going to blow the entire roof off!
With the fantastic @roelandp at the helm, we are all in the best and most capable hands possible. And I can’t wait to create many more incredible memories over the next week or so. But one of the main reasons for this post is to share some of my enthusiasm with those of us that are new to Steemit and maybe missed out on hearing how awesome the last event was. Because as I mentioned before, the last one exceeded everyone’s expectations by miles.
You must remember that when I joined up back in July 2016, the community was tiny compared to what it is today. To the extent where all the new content produced would be created by names everyone was already familiar with. Though we also knew that this was something that could become huge some day and these beginning stages weren’t to last long. So given the window of opportunity, @ned and @roelandp came up with an event that not only gave Steemit a major boost in recognition in the world of crypto but also allowed us users to meet each other in person face-to-face!
As I’ve mentioned many times in the past, surreal just doesn’t cut it. We all wore nametags to identity who was who and made instant connections with each other as most us were already “fans” of one another’s blogs! Except this was happening in real life! And in addition to that, the organisation of the event was so classy and well-structured that everyone agreed this was the best promotional gathering any of us had ever been to. Great times and great memories. The people’s dynamic back then was of everybody there embarking on a brand new journey of which we were all at the very start of. To summarise, we were in essence all singing from the same hymn sheet. And that sense of discovery and intrigue was what ultimately made the event so special.
Fast forward to this year and I feel changed may have changed somewhat. In that, I mean we will have two distinct generations of steemians who will interact and converse with each other. That should make things very interesting indeed. Individuals new to Steemit will feel similar to how we did last year but now we as “more mature” steemians will be able to share our personal stories as well as discuss our thoughts on how our journey has been up until this point. It should be another surreal, yet highly enjoyable time ahead for us all in attendance.
This eco-system is continuing to grow so fast and can’t wait to see how things continue to evolve as the years roll on and more events and meet-up’s like this take place. Not too long now as the anticipation is kicking in, the butterflies are going crazy and I’m super excited to see you all.
I wish everyone has a safe trip to the Steemfest and I look forward to catching you all out there in a few, short hours! Bon voyage!
