Steem food tours 10: Shugatori, uptown damansara- Malaysia

4 May 2018, Malaysia was not also popular with dessert cafes. The most we had tub ice cream from the supermarket and if we where lucky maybe some fancy lava cake in some western restaurant. Fancy dessert was always found in fine dining establishments and back then people would not pay such money for dessert. As time goes dessert cafe became more popular to teenagers, thus the born of dessert cafe. As that being said, today I'll be reviewing a dessert cafe.

Golden lava

I could say this is popular with the locals, however I cannot guarantee the same for westerners. The out will know why is a sec! This dessert contains a buttery charcoal toast with chocolate crumble, mixed berries, a scope of vanilla ice cream and " salted egg yolk" sauce. Yes , salted egg yolk. I heard from many westerner that they can't stand the smell of it. Non the less I enjoy the combination of all those flavour, toast is done very well. It has a nice crispy buttery crust and a toasty nutty flavour. The warm sauce when mets the cold ice cream is just fascinating!
Price 26.90MYR (6.90USD)

Gula Melaka

image.jpeg

Gula Melaka is palm sugar in a more known name. It contains pandan pancake layered with coconut jam topped with coconut ice cream and served with gula Melaka sauce. First of all the pancake is just yummy, light, fluffy and full flavour. The coconut jam, smooth and not too sweet. Coconut ice cream was so rich, fragrant and velvet.
Price : 23.90MYR (6.12USD)

Specials

Every month they would add a special dessert in their menu, it's only available for a limited time. Last month was sweet potato theme and this month is this

I did not order this because I am stuffed from the previous two desserts.

A look inside

Cozy, bright and relaxing environment, great for meet ups, or unwinding a hard day of work. Water is free here so it's a great place to chat with friends if you have a lot to talk about.

My THOUGHS

All the servers were extremely friendly and approachable. There is a wide range of interesting dessert and drinks offered there, great for people that love fancy dessert or drinks! The price is towards the higher side, but most dessert cafe are too, if sharing the price is kinda reasonable for the effort they take to make the dessert. Anyway you should be sharing because the portion is meant to be shared. Would encourage those who wish to visit at night if traveling by car, other time is kinda hard to find available parking slot.
