STEEM Food Tours #5: Super Tanker restaurant, one club- MALAYSIA

1st April 2018, another special day, this time my relative from Hong Kong whom i never met before joined us for a Royal Chinese cuisine treat. We have made a reservation a week beforehand, it's required In order for some dish to be prepare. Walking in is possible too, but some dish will be unavailable. Be prepared for this epic one of a kine Chinese food you will not get other place. This whole meal consist of 8 dishes.

chilled steamed chicken jelly & squid, fish cake with crispy chicken skin at the bottom

image.jpg
The chilled steamed chicken jelly has a very interesting mouthfeel, some part feel jello ish while other was like shave ice. Some people will find it weird but it was exciting and delicious for me.

steamed fish fillet wrap around pork ball

image.jpeg
The fish-pork ball has a very homogeneous taste which goes well with their soy based sauce

iberico pork ribs

image.jpeg
Love the char-ness of the spices on the surface, very tender, and moist.

thousand layer bean curd

image.jpg
A Layer of ham, three layer of bean curd and a layer of minced pork cake. The combination is deep fried to create the crispy exterior. Served with fried shallots, and spring onions. Nice combination of texture and taste.

cereal prawn in salted egg yolk sauce

image.jpeg
A traditional Chinese dish, the prawn is coated in cereal and deep fried. It's then covered in salted egg yolk sauce. In my opinion, it's crazy savoury. Westerners may not be used to the salted egg yolk flavour.

stir fried dragon chive

image.jpg
A unique Malaysian vegetable, flavoured like leeks but just leafy in mouthfeel. It's stir fried in macadamia nuts, red chile, and Kombu. Clean taste and very well season dish.

fried noodles

image.jpeg
The ingredient that made this dish stand out is the crispy deep fried pork lard. When bitten into it the porky flavour just burst in your mouth. Unlike other stir fried noodle dish, this dish have a generous amount of thick pieces of pork meat and prawn.

Chinese pancake

image.jpeg
Chinese pastry filled with lotus paste and deep fried. Crispy exterior, sweet and chewy interior. A very nice contrast in mouthfeel and taste.

Overall this restaurant it worth coming back, it would be great to host a party or a reunion dinner here as it has great capability. If you are bored of traditional Chinese food I do encourage you to give this a try if you are here in Malaysia. The total cost for 9 of us is 1000myr ( 256usd). I would say it's quite reasonable for the different approach to traditional Chinese cuisine.
