Hey everybody!
Do you like live performances? Do you know the people who run community centers, like cafes, libraries, and pubs in your neighborhood? Do you want to help bring your local community together, reward creativity, and build steemit?
Then I've got the perfect steemgig for you!
If you take on this project, you will receive 37.874 SBD (compliments of @papa-pepper) to distribute as prizes!
You will also get all the support I can offer you, and I wouldn't be surprised if @papa-pepper offered you his support as well. In fact, there are a number of community members who will support your work and help amplify your voice!
So, what is this gig, you ask?
Simple: you will host an open mic in your neighborhood and invite both your local community and any Steemians who can make the trek to your location to attend and/or perform!
The logistics are fairly simple:
You will need to find a location willing to host (for example, talk to the owner of a local cafe!)
You will post the time and place on Steemit
You will do your best to find other Steemians in your area and let them know
You will do your best to find non-Steemians in your area and let them know
Then you will simply host the open mic, record the performances, get their email addresses from the performers, send the performances to the performers via email, and invite the performers to join Steemit!
Then you get to make a post about the event, and let the performers post their performances in the comments! Once a winner has been determined, you get to give out prizes!

Second #steemgig is for someone to make a logo for this series!
I'll happily upvote every submission for the next week (put a link to it in the comments) and then choose one to be the logo! The one I choose will get a tip from @tipu!
Logo-wise, I'd love to see something that reinforces a few qualities that I hope our open-mic will embody. Here are some statements that indicate those qualities:
Steemit is a community-building platform, and this event is part of that
We celebrate the audience and the performers
We're here to have fun!
You only fail when you're trying something that's difficult for you. That's good. Failing is good. It means you're growing.
Thirdly, I think I may need some better tags than what I've been using.
We need both a contest-specific tag, and the most relevant tags for each night. I think the city name of each is important, probably #contest, but I'm not sure beyond that. Suggestions welcome, and as always, since steemit is a financial platform, and we need a financial incentive for EVERYTHING, I'll probably upvote every plausible suggestion for the next week. 5 pennies some of the time!
If you know someone who would be good at any of these things, please pass it along. Sometimes our networks need to go 2 or 3 deep before we find the right people for the job! A rising tide lifts all boats!
