Wondering why Your Content Was Flagged? You Aren't Alone
The flagging system is a very important tool to keep steemit full of content that people wish to see.
The problem lies in the fact that many times a user has no way of knowing what their blog post or comment was flagged for. I have personally had this happen to me. Since reputation is extremely important, I reached out to the user to ask why I had been flagged. The only way I knew how to contact them directly was to send some steem directly to their wallet with a question in the memo field. They realized that the comment was not spam, but by then it was too late to remove the flag.
I'd like to propose a few solutions to problems with the current flagging system
- Each time the flag button is clicked, a dialogue box opens up and you can select one or more of the follow checkboxes like in the picture above.
- A list of users who flagged content should show up and when you click on a user it should tell why your content was flagged
- An option to unflag content (not your own) by having users vote whether or not a flag is correct. Too often content appears to be flagged for jealousy, but if you have to select an option, it should be clear whether or not a post/comment deserves a flag.
- An option to direct message someone who has flagged content and dispute the flag (possibly to be resolved by a third party or witness)
Hopefully thes proposals will take some of the guesswork out of why content was flagged and bring resolutions quickly before the flag becomes immutable
I'm sure there are other issues people have with the flagging system/fairness, and would like this post to be a place to voice frustrations and suggested solutions so that the developers can use this post to make steemit even better
