As a witness it's one of my jobs to consistently analyze the current state of the platform/community in order to better serve as a influencer of positive change and I have noticed something potentially harmful or potentially not.
I write to you from my 1970's style, slightly uncomfortable seat, sitting next to a larger gentlemen to my left on the RedLine T headed to Boston. So decided to distract myself with a little blog posting.
Lately I've been observing some of the voting patterns here and with the increase in reward value from upvotes and subsequential excelarated reduction in voting power, users have been voting a lot less then before. And although everyone could just set their voting percentage to match that of which each vote would be worth prior to HF 19... that's more work and with no real benefit to spreading your votes around why bother?
Well this means a lot more people looking at a lot less content. I'm not talking everyone and at first it seemed to have been worse with everyone adjusting to the new system. Some I have talked to have suggested it may still be too early , dust hasn't fully settled. Still, it's on my mind so I thought there's no harm in starting up a discussion or atleast speaking my mind a bit.
I personally have been voting a lot less due to several factors, mostly experiements and my up vote iniative. I will however be continuing my normal voting soon at a lower percentage, so really this is premature but still is on people's minds.
Since this was really just suppose to be a simple morning question post lol I'll wrap it up for now and ask a couple questions...
Following HF19...
- Do you feel you vote less often or about the same?
- Do you tend to vote at a higher percentage or spread it out at a lower one?
- Would you rather just one click upvote things almost like a FB like?
- You like the vote percentage increase and just think it will take time to work itself out?
