Have you ever looked at the trending list and wondered how such a post has managed to receive a high reward? Wonder how you could get into the trending list? Feel as if your works deserve more then you currently receive? I sure do for all 3, in this post using the tool SteemWorld.org by @steemchiller I will explain my findings furthermore I will explain why and how I choose to “boost” my posts.

From my experience there are three fundamental reasons for boosting your post. I have talked in the past about two of those visibility and reputation but in this post I want to focus on return on investment(ROI). If you believe the posts in the trending list are there purely by their followers then you are sadly mistaken, sure there are some but most use bid-bots. I view the use of these bots as a form of investment in the platform and yourself plus being a way of increasing curation rewards for your followers.

Looking for a way of gaining visibility has led me to the conclusion that the most visible posts all use bid-bots and I will show you how to find this information yourself. You can check the payout from any post using the tools available. I will use my own account as an example exposing my current tactics to increase my rewards while simultaneously increasing the rewards for everyone voting on my posts including the #OneLoveDTube curation trail.

My preferred site for looking up pay out information is https://steemworld.org/@d00k13 and you may look up anyone’s account by simply replacing the username with the user of choice or your own. This site has many functions and if you are not familiar with it then I highly suggest looking around as you will find just about anything you may want to know. I also suggest voting for @steemchiller witness the creator of this tool to help support the cause and keep tools like these functional.

Scroll down until you find the recent post section and click on the post you wish to check. In the above picture I have selected my most recent post. You can see that I have a payout total of $4.159 split between author 82.93% and curators 17.07%. You can also see that I have made transfers relative to this post of 2.419 SBD. This post will be a positive ROI for myself and the curators as the paid votes came long after the real votes this is my way of ensuring I give to my supporters at a slightly lower personal ROI.

Underatanding The Math

At a glance it looks like I will receive less SBD then I paid yet with posts split 50/50 we must also account for STEEM. I will receive 1.3 SP and 1.724 SBD, looking at the market 1.3 SP is worth 1.483 SBD making my total reward 3.207 SBD at the time of this post. Furthermore the curation rewards total 0.536 SP which equals 0.612 SBD making the total reward 3.819 in terms of SBD (I pay in SBD thus I calculate in SBD). That is a net gain of 1.4 SBD over the paid amount of 2.419 SBD found in the transfers section. Now some of that income is legitimate votes so I will subtract the average reward from my posts that has not received boosting which is in the range of 0.3 SBD rounding up leaving the total ROI at 1.1 SBD on the original 2.419 SBD investment. This can also be used to exchange SBD for SP when boosting a post with 100% SP payout at a positive ROI far surpassing the internal exchange rates.

@tipu & @smartsteem have been my goto services when boosting as they claim to have guaranteed ROI which has been proving to be true at least with my experiences. I will not give a step by step guide on how to use these services as I believe each of us must do our own research on the subject to fully understand what it is we are doing. Furthermore I do not wish to lead anyone into something they do not understand to which blame may be cast my way so if you wish to use these services remember it’s at your own discretion.

As a final note I wish to insist that your certain to contribute something of value to the blockchain that you wish to boost. Do not I repeat do not boost posts of low quality into the trending or hot lists as you will most likely be flagged for pool rewards abuse and possibly blacklisted with their services.
