"Force-Feed" For Growth | Would It Be Possible To Build A Middle-Class By Doing That?

We talk about engagement and we talk about growing. We talk about supporting each other and we talk about content. Some Steemians have actively been talking about building a middle-class and how Steemit would benefit by having a real middle-class. I am one of the users who truly believes that we deserve a middle-class and that we should focus on creating one.

Now, before we dive into this any further, I'll use davemccoy as an example:
@davemccoy has 472.259 STEEM right now and I know that several Steemians out there believes he is worth much more than that. He has less than 500 Steem Power (excluding delegations) and even though 500 SP might not be what some would consider to be the "middle-class" value, I think it's a good start. Especially as you'll get to use the voting slider and things like that.

  • Do you agree that he is worth more than 500 Steem?
  • Do you agree that 500 would be a good start for the middle-class?

Minnows is or should probably be the middle-class on Steemit. Superusers have anything between 1-10 MVESTS, so minnows fits perfectly in that description. What I've been thinking about lately, is the idea of "force-feeding" specific users to make them grow rapidly.

I'm not talking about bid-bots, delegations or upvotes. I'm talking about donations.

@davemccoy have 472 Steem, so he needs 28 Steem to reach the "middle-class" value of 500. I don't suggest that a whale or a dolphin donates him 28 steem and puts him in that category instantly... I'm talking about a community effort.

In pure pay-it-forward spirit, we could easily put him at 500 Steem if we wanted too. 28 Steem in total. Imagine that I had 27 good friends that truly liked what davemccoy does. All of them donates 1 steem and I donate 1 too. That would be a total of 28 Steem and honestly speaking, all of us can afford spending 1 Steem.

By doing that, we would've brought dave straight to the middle-class. Imagine if we were a group of 100 people instead. In that case, we would give dave 0.28 Steem each and have the same outcome.

Sure, this is one user and I could probably mention more than a handful of people without even thinking about it... But what if we actually did something like this, instead of talking about how or what we could do?

I don't know how one would decide upon who or when to help, but the community, or the people involved in this "donation-group" could decide in one way or another. Let's say that we have a list of 10 different Steemians for starters. Donate 1 steem, 0.5 Steem or whatever the amount might be, and "force-feed" the specific user so he or she grows and becomes a middle-class Steemian... And then on to the next person on the list!

This would ultimately be the community pushing a fellow Steemian straight into the middle-class, and we all would benefit by doing it in the long haul. Because frankly speaking, we all know that Dave would be worth it.

Also, I'm not talking about this because I want to stop the @asapers project, @helpie or any other curation or support-project out there. I'm talking about this, as an addition to these things.

I don't know if "force-feeding" is the best word for it either, but I think it describes the scenario in a decent way. I'd be willing to "sacrifice" some of my own rewards to feed others in a community effort like this.

  • Would you be interested?

This would ultimately create a middle-class, without the need of any major dolphin or whale support... So it would ease the pressure from these creatures as well. We wouldn't need one or two whales to be the driving forces if we combined our strengths and strive towards the same goals. All it takes, is the pay-it-forward mindset and the will to create something sustainable.
