Let's Bring People To 500 SP! | Community Effort At Its Best!

"How About Pushing People To 500 Steem Power?"

I have met many talented authors and amazing artists during my 2+ years on Steemit. Ever since the @asapers was born, I've been thinking of new ideas because I want to do more. As I delegate 100% of my Steem Power, my options to make a difference were slim to none.

I do believe that curation teams and other supportive initiatives of all kinds are vital for continuous growth on Steemit... But I have been eager to have more of an impact. I was aiming for instant results and not the typical slow-and-steady type of progress.

2 days ago, I finally decided to share one of my ideas. An idea I had to push people to 500 Steem Power so people become more "self-going" and independent. 500 Steem Power enables the voting-slider and people sitting at ~450 steem are often struggling to push themselves.

They become more or less stagnant, and if we're unlucky, it results in declining motivation... Which obviously affects the entire platform. I wanted to change that, but I wasn't sure if I could do it or how to do it...

  • So I shared one of my ideas with you.

Many were surprised by the fact that @davemccoy hadn't reached 500 Steem Power, so when I used him as an example, people immediately put their gloves on and we successfully pushed him to 500 Steem Power in less than a day. We stopped being selfish for a few seconds, we sent some Steem to a fellow Steemian who truly deserves to be a minnow and we pushed him all the way. Dave is now a minnow due to community efforts.

  • That's how powerful we can be if we work together.

When We Had This Much Success...

Almost overwhelmed by all the comments and the support towards Dave and this project, I quickly decided to push another Steemian into the Minnow category along with Dave. - I realized that @insideoutlet, the driving force behind the @asapers project, and a person I admire was sitting at 496 Steem.

  • I transferred 4 steem immediately and told her to power up.

Knowing that both @insideoutlet and @davemccoy are minnows makes me feel powerful. It makes me feel that I am part of something more. Something bigger than myself. That's what I want you to feel with any of my projects. That you make a difference and that you matter.

These last ~48 hours has been crazy. I've spent approximately 6 hours replying to comments and talking to people on Discord. The one person I've been talking to the most is: @erodedthoughts.

We Are Tired Of Takers And Talkers.

We have a few things in common him and I. We are both tired of talkers and takers.

I have probably heard more than a dozen times already, that people "want a middle-class", that we "need to support others" and that we "should manually curate". I have heard "we need to do something" and "can someone do something?"

  • I have also heard: "people leave steemit because we don't support them."

Do you know something I haven't heard as much... Or have heard but in very, very rare occasions? - "I will do this." or "I do this." - Me and @erodedthoughts decided to put our money where our mouths are and do something.

  • We don't just talk we take action.

We have both decided to donate 3 steem per week, and @simplymike quickly followed suit. With that, we're already up to 9 Steem per week, that we can use to push a fellow Steemian straight into the Minnow-category.

There are many more users out there willing to sacrifice their own rewards and people who're willing to support this initiative and our cause in various ways...

  • And we would love to have even more people on board!

This concept is new. This whole idea is in the early stages but we've already had tremendous results. We've brought two users to 500 Steem Power in 2 days. We inspire, motivate, help and support others by giving. We give and grow, together. The idea is to help one Steemian once per week. If you or someone you know have 450 steem or more, and are in need of a little community love, make sure to leave the name below!

We Are Now Looking At @Phoenixwren.

Due to the super-success we had with @davemccoy, we're now looking for someone else to help. Dave was quick to nominate/mention phoenixwren, and it makes sense to have the user we help to recommend the next person.
