Simple Beginners' Guide to Steemit [pics + instructions]

I have just brought a good friend of mine in steemit and I would like to post some information about what a new user can find as they arrive, when everything seems strange and so overwhelming!

After the account's approval and the signing in, the user comes to an empty profile and an empty blog. There are tabs that do not have yet any info and a wallet that its use is not so clear.

(This information is provided based on my own questions when I first came. It may not be useful for everyone, but hopefully it will provide some info for new users :))

Let’s start.

Steemit suggest that the users read Welcome to Steemit & the FAQs carefully.

You can always search anything you are searching for i.e. “How to make a post in steemit” You will surely find very informative posts!

The STEEMIT feed

In the below image we are seeing the 'trending' steemit blogs for now!

You can find all kinds of posts. You see the username, category (defined by their first hashtag), title, thumbnail, amount of $, number of upvotes and number of posts.

If you are logged in – you can immediately upvote by clicking the small arrow next to the middle number but be extra careful, you do not want to cast more than 10-15 upvotes per day as this will reduce your Voting Power

Upvote = similar to facebook like. When you upvote, you add value to the post. Initially your upvotes will worth 0.01$ which will increase in good time..
You can check the website https://www.steemnow.com/@yourusername for more information regarding your voting power and activity.
Resteem: Similar to ‘share’ on facebook. Whenever you resteem a post, it appears in your blog. It does not add value in rewards for you, but it adds value to your followers if it is interesting for them.

Your Blog

Your blog is a place you will be spending a great amount of time.
You will be able to create your posts, check your replies to your comments, change your settings or check your steemit wallet!

Tip: Do not upvote posts older than 7 days old, as their reward have already been paid out.

What is very important is that you realize you are in a community that rewards time and efforts.
Do not expect a quick buck, or you will be dissapointed.
It takes time, effort, much reading and searching to be able to establish yourself in this platform and above all ..
You need to like what you are doing in order to do it well.
Take some time to feel comfortable, comment in users's posts (thoughtfull comments), make some new friends and come up of interesting stories to write about.
The platform and your new friends will reward you for it!

Thank you for stopping by!
