HOW to show APPRECIATION and MAKE FRIENDS on steemit...come on, let's show some love ;)

Source

Hi everyone,

Three days ago, I wrote a post to express how emotionally invested I'd become in the people I've met and talked to here for a little less than 3 months. I came up with the idea because I not only wanted to show my support to those I consider my friends, but I also wanted to spread a little positivity around as well. In a world full of negativity and too many people focusing on material goods or things that in the end really don't matter at all, I wanted to focus on something real, tangible, and incredibly important. People

And what I found out, is that everyone seemed to love hearing it! Of course right?? Who doesn't like to hear that they are cared for and appreciated? Absolutely no one! That's who;)

So I decided to go searching for other posts that do the same thing, or that encourage all of us in some way to get to know our friends here a little bit better. Think about it; how amazing is it that we have the opportunity here to really get to know people from all around the world !

Here are just a couple that I want to share with all of you:

Today in my travels in @asapers Discord channel, a little serendipity occurred and I came across this post from @crazybgadventure. Here he talks about other steemians that he'd engaged with over the previous week, and what it exactly meant for him.

Like my post expressing my love for my friends here, he's proposing that we all do a weekly post just talking about how others here affected us during the week. In his words,

Its about time that we pay attention to each other, and reward the people with a little recognition for the super work they do on the platform.

What a wonderful way to show appreciation for others!! He also suggests using #shoutoutsaturdays as one of your tags in the hopes of taking the focus off of the 'Trending' page; and it would make it a lot easier to go searching for anyone's "show your appreciation" posts;)

Today I was also tagged in a post from my friend, @thedarkhorse, to continue a challenge describing 5 things you love and 5 things you hate. His list of the 5 things he hates made me laugh because he basically created his own dictionary of words...well worth a read :)

His post was inspired by a challenge created by @snowpea, that is so simple and so fun...and really not a challenge at all...so don't get scared if that word makes you nervous, or turned off if you don't like games. This is another great opportunity to get to know more about people here. And the more we know about people here, the quicker they become like friends, and the more we end up truly and genuinely caring!

Last week I was tagged in a post by @insideoutlet, and prior to that, @traciyork. I know that @byn's had one in between, but somehow I unfortunately missed that one! (btw, you'll see links to the other two in @insideoutlet's post).

This is a 'game' where you have to tell 9 truths about yourself and 1 lie, and you then invite others to guess which is the lie. It's a lot of fun, but to me it's true purpose is again, to get to know your friends a little bit better here !! Is anyone noticing the trend yet? :)

This one's not a post I found, but rather an awesome way to get to know others better. I belong to several Discord groups, specifically @steemitbloggers (who showcase members' amazing work on a daily basis, thanks to support from @appreciator), @asapers (who work so hard helping people and highlighting their work), @newbieresteemday, @greetersguild and @helpie (all three's sole purpose is to actively and selflessly search for new people to welcome, help, support, and mentor), @steemgigs (who also help and support people but thanks to @surpassingoogle, do a whole lot more, that you can read about here.

And I love all of them!!

For those of you who have postponed joining a Discord channel, please reconsider. I too put it off in the beginning, because truthfully, I'm not a person who normally joins chat groups; yes, hard to believe, I know ;) But, these are not your average chat groups, I assure you!!

Discord groups are a wonderful place to meet new people with the same interests as you, or new people to follow, or to follow you, a great place to chat, ask questions, help others, or simply a place to let your hair down and make jokes, laugh, cry or whatever else you need. It's a place to be you.

There are so many different Discord groups out there; there really is something for everyone!! If you're reading this and have another great group to share, please please please drop the name of it in your comments. I'd appreciate it very much, and someone else might as well!!

And speaking of comments, if you've found a post of any kind that highlights the idea of appreciating others or getting to know our friends here, please please please share that as well!!

Well that's enough begging for one day haha
