If you want to become great and grow into a whale you need to do a lot of stuff here on Steemit! Nothing comes easy! You need to successfully grow your network and get upvoted / esteemed to be then rewarded on Steemit. So let’s what you are and how to grow further!

The type of users on Steemit: Minnow

The minnow is a term that describes the smallest and newest users there are on Steemit. They are looking for new opportunities and try to find their way on the platform. They don’t invest a lot of money, they don’t tend to invest and didn’t spend a lot of time here to get a lot of Steem Power. It’s good to know that you are still a minnow even under 500 Steem Power!

It’s good to know that the minnow is the largest group here on Steemit and even though they have low Steem Power and their votes aren’t worth much, they are highly important. Getting a lot of upvotes from minnows can be worth a lot! They try to build net friendships and grow their network. So if you get 100 votes that are each worth $0.01 you still get $1 in return. And over time that will grow even more.

The type of users on Steemit: Dolphin

Dolphins have either invested a lot of time or money to get their mark on Steemit. You can label a Dolphin when they are over 6000 Steem Power. Because they invested a lot of time and/or money they have more influence and their votes can be worth around $0.25. Because their votes are worth much, it brings a lot of attention of whales that votes on them in the hope they get an up vote in return. When you’re an dolphin you get more upvotes and therefore can get more Steem Power, much quicker.

The type of users on Steemit: Whale

Whales are the ubermensch here on Steemit and they usually don’t vote often. When you get an up vote from a whale your post gets boosted with several dollars. You are considered a whale if you have 50k+ Steem Power.

So what’s important?

Everyone is important. While a single whale can boost your post with several dollars, you have to consider all the dolphins out there to boost with several cents. The minnow group is the biggest so when you talk with them and get a lot of upvotes from them you might not get a lot in the short term. But if you network very good and grow with each other. You will grow into dolphins together and still upvote each other and make a lot from it in the long term!
