How Time flies. I have already been on Steemit for 8 months now. And Look - I am already a Dolphin!
I began my post on August 16th, 2017, so today marks my 8th month into Steemit. So far so good. Steemit has not left me disappointed yet. I have made many Steemit friends and able to share valuable content with my followers.
If you are new on Steemit, never lose heart in your first 3 months if you are not getting much rewards. The real leap comes in the 4th month when your followers start increasing and they start taking notice of you. From there on, you make slow but steady progress like what I have been doing as I finish my 8th month on steemit.
8 Months Into Steemit:
Reputation Score: 66
Followers: 1659
Three Special Events Happened on this 8th Month:
1. From Minnow to Becoming a Dolphin
- 1st to 3rd month: Plankton
- 4th to 7th month: Minnow
- 8th month: Dolphin
Two weeks ago, I noticed that my Steemit rank turned to a dolphin. I was not expecting it. One day when I turned on the computer and started creating my post on Steemit, I noticed that I had become a 'dolphin'.
You might be asking: How do I become a dolphin?
For me, I noticed it when my Steem Power went beyond 5000.
If you want to become a dolphin - Investing in Steem by POWERING UP is the way to go. Once you get to this point, it is a new ball game because you now have a new type of status and influence belonging to the top 15% of Steemit users. You can actually start helping other minnows. Before, as a minnow, you were just surviving. But now, you have more strength and power to keep afloat as well as helping others to grow on this platform.
I also noticed that my followers increased very quickly in the last 2 weeks. More people want to follow you. You are also more motivated to write more and more quality for them because you actually see your followers engaging in your posts. Each time you write a quality post with tons of content, you are stacking up Steem in your wallet.
2. New Changes in Utopian Platform in April
As many of you know, there were new changes in the Utopian platform. New Community Managers were nominated to supervise the entire platform. Moderators were also screened out so now there are very few moderators on service.
The main bulk of the work now depends on the Community Managers who are in charge of these different categories collaborating with Open Source Project Owners:
- Tutorials
- Video Tutorials
- Development
- Blog
- Copywriting
- Ideas & Suggestions
- Bug Hunting
- Graphics
- Data Analysis
- Visibility
The Translation Category is still undergoing further development for a few more weeks.
I am now a moderator in the Video Tutorial Team. For the last 5 months, I was mainly focused on Translation. So moving to the Video Tutorial Team is quite refreshing because it reminds me of the many tutorials I can contribute to Utopian in tutorials. I have almost forgotten this category because of my attention drawn to translation.

I am at the "Hero" Level:
The higher you move up in the badges, the more influence you have on the Utopian platform. The influence affects how a user scores a contribution. The bigger the influence, the more weight and validity the user's scores have when determining the final score of contributions.
3. I am a Reviewer in Smartsteem
In the past month, I have been actively reviewing profiles for Smartsteem.com
When I joined, we had about 60+ pages of profiles to review, and I happy to say that we are now all caught up.
