Two friends of mine are currently trying to get Steemit accounts and this is the message they have been looking at for the last week:

you'll be sent a link to finalize your account!
You'll be among the earliest members of the Steemit community!
CLEARLY this is unacceptable for steemit inc to treat newcomers this way. Surely there is another way to get them into the system without them having to wait a week?
This will not help at all in attracting new users!
Please devs, what is going on here?
I would love to know the answer to this question.
