Don't upvote everything, you are only hurting yourself. Here's why:

It's fun to upvote as many things as we can in hope we will make some Steem from our contribution, but the problem is you only have a certain amount of voting power. If you run out, your votes basically count for nothing. We all start of with 100% voting power. Every vote count for about 0.5% of your voting power, your voting power regenereates at around 0.8% per hour.

The more Steem Power you have the more your vote will influence the post and more curation rewards for you. The lower your voting power the less influence you will have on the post and earn less or non curation rewards. Make your votes count. Follow me on this silly yet simple way to look at Voting Power.

The Goku - AKA The Minnow

The users new to Steemit with very low steem power, they come in and start their journey in an unknown and exciting environment eager to vote on every post simply because they heard that voting will give you curation rewards. Your votes are simple punches to the post that won't have much influence. The more you vote the less power you have.

Upvoting is fun and you feel you are supporting everyone, punching every vote counter you can will eventually tire you out. Your voting power will diminish and you will be left weak and vulnerable. Defeated you might give up and leave the fight altogether.

So what must you do? Vote on the things that you really like, think of what posts will make it big and vote on them, trending posts are already big and curation rewards will be minimal. try finding new posts that have the potential to make it big. Use your votes sparingly. Take a break from time to time, eat, sleep, take a walk, train, do whatever you do in your free time.

These warriors punch with a force of about 0.5% of their full potential, they still need to climb the ranks and train more before they have more control over their hits.

The Super Saiyan - AKA The Dolphin

These users have been here long enough to know the ropes. They hit a lot harder and their rewards are bigger.
When they upvote your post you will know it.

Will all this extra power they know they need more rest so they do not hit everything they see, they use their power sparingly. Only voting on those they truly believe in.

These Saiyans have the skills to control their punches, some hitting with 1% of their power, other maxing it out to 100% it all depends on their situation.

The Ultimate Saiyan - AKA The Whales

They walk among us. Their power is greater than any warrior. If they strike they fire up and unleash a powerful blow that echos over the Steemit plains. They are humble though, they have honed their skills and use their powers mostly for good. Saving, training and mentoring fellow warriors along the way.

Their votes are powerful and must be respected and thanked. They rest as hard as they fight. Catch their attention and they might award you for your spirit and willingness to contribute to the greater good. Time has made them wise. Legend has it their hardest hit has so much force behind it, it could turn a post into pure diamond.

In conclusion all we Goku/Minnow Steemians need to remember

We are weak now, time will train us and we need to be patient. We can hit, but not very hard yet. Hitting everything and anything will only tire you out and affect you negatively. Later when you have more Steem Power you will be able to set the power of your votes. (see picture top on your right) Vote on what matters/interest you, posts that you feel have potential to make it big. Curation rewards will be greater for you if you are patient and use your votes sparingly.
