Resistance is futile!
So I cracked how to buy steem last night, it took a very irate phone call from me to my bank. I tried to buy btc a few nights ago on coinbase and my bank stopped the purchase, so I phoned and asked them why, security they said. Now I know better than that, the excuse wore thin in seconds.
I explained to the person on the phone that I was not using a credit card, as I do not even own one, I was using a debit, and as such it was my own money to spend on what I like, she retorted that the government advisory on bitcoin was to not allow purchases or to secure them. I asked what secure them means, she said make it as awkward as possible! And so it was, she need not fear, it gets even more awkward once you have bought them.
So now I have cleared it with my bank, that I will spend my own money on what I want, or change banks, I now have the green light to spend my own money, marvellous uh!
Once I had the btc, I sent it to my bittrex account where it took around 1 hour to arrive, all well and good I hear you say, yes. The next thing was to sell it for steem, I set the market price at "last" and waited 1 hour, that did not work, so I set it at bid, 6 times, and kept changing the price to try to meet steem sellers price, 4 hours later I went to bed, still waiting for 66 steem to be exchanged.
Now do not get me wrong, I have every faith in cryptos, I though have very little faith in the exchanges currently available, and to be a market leading force, we are going to "have to" make this whole process faster and easier, or risk losing new people with inquisitive minds, we need these new people, we need them badly.
Is there not a single person on this planet that can make an app based exchange with near instant exchanges to take away these 5 hour long processes just to buy some steem? There will have to be a simpler way than this, or we risk losing people that want to join in, come on stinc, make it easier to buy steem or sbd with fiat, give new people a leg up by keeping them interested.
Just a morning coffee with me, it is my daughters first day at the big school today, and I am in awe of how they do it here, in the UK you get sent to the indoctrination camp and forgotten about, here the parents get to spend the first day at school with the children, the children also get walk about's in the community on sunny days, not stuck behind a desk getting told what is what via a blackboard, how refreshing, you even get to pick the teacher they have until 10 years old, imagine that in the united condom of rain!
There is also no fine for taking your children on holiday during school term, refreshing it is indeed.
