At Steemit, we have the opportunity to create financial value out of nothing other than social interaction and content. This is an amazing opportunity. However, for the most part it is only used for self-gain. It has occurred to me that we can also channel this power to help improve the world outside of the Steemit community. Truly good causes should, i hope, gain traction here and earn higher payouts, which can then be used as donations. This post (hopefully the first of many) will act as a trial run for this concept.
So here is the plan: Reply with a charity or non-profit organization, and feel free to make a case for that recipient in your reply. Or if you just want to increase the donation amount, an upvote or resteem can always help. At the end of 7 days, after making this post, I will personally match the post earnings (Not just mine. All of them) with a donation to the charity with the most upvotes, and will post a verification of that donation. This is a way for us to create a large donation, on a recurring basis, by harnessing the power of the Steemit community. I have no clue if this will gain any traction at first, because at the time of this post i have only 29 followers. However, i think it's worth a shot. And even if it generates too small of an amount for donation on this first run, I'll carry that value over to future runs.

I understand this may start out very small, as i don't have a large following. But hopefully it will grow, as this is a chance to channel the earning power of the Steemit community to a good cause that we all decide on. Thank you!
