My Steemit Goals For 2018

After nearly 6 months on this platform, I wanted to sit down and better define my goals here. I dedicate around 2 hours every day to creating and curating content, so it's time I get focused. I won't be powering down for the whole year, just to see where this platform goes, and my main goal is to hit 60 reputation by next year. Considering I've been at 57 for months, this seems rather ambitious.

It's time to make a plan.

My Community Schedule

I want to be a better Steemian! I’ve met so many incredible people on here that I have a hard time keeping up with everyone across all the communities I'm interested in (travelers, fiction writers, vloggers, etc) while also staying open to meeting new people. I sold off my SBDs with the high price and re-invested it into Steem, so now I have almost 1000 Steem Power. With voting power comes the responsibility to support great content!

Every Day:

  • Reward and interact with 10 posts from people I already follow
  • Reward and interact with 10 strangers (I’ll probably be relying on @steemitworldmap, @ocd, @curie, @sft, @msp-curation, @muxxybot and others to help me find them, feel free to suggest more in the comments)
  • Upvote and reply to meaningful comments on my own content
  • Promote my best finds elsewhere

Goals Throughout the Year:

  • Host a contest
  • Host or at least attend an in-person meetup

My Posting Schedule

This is a work in progress, but the idea is to get through my backlog while only posting around once per day. If I miss doing the daily videos, I may post more than once a day but I don't want to overwhelm my followers' feeds.

Monday:

The Roving Vlogger On the Road
What happened to the 55 daily videos I never posted on Steemit? Well, my family wanted me to "be present" while we were traveling together through Spain (how dare they?!) and I want to do these justice by incorporating detailed writing and my best photos. I will cherry-pick the best for you guys, and once I am through this will return to a Daily Edition.

Tuesday:

The Roving Vlogger Daily Edition
A simple video journal of my life from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. I want to focus on fitness, achieving my goals, discussing the things I learn each day, and keeping things interesting with mini-adventures.

Wednesday:

“That Time I..."
My chance to record some of my favorite true and unusual stories, designed to be entertaining and educational. I only got a few episodes into this series: “That Time I Rode the Ferry Dressed as a French Maid” and “That Time I Spent a Week Swimming With Wild Dolphins”. They are VERY VERY time-consuming to write at the quality I want for them, especially considering my first one earned just over $1, but hopefully I will still be able to release one a week.

Thursday:

The Roving Vlogger Daily Edition
A video journal of my life filmed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Friday:

Adventure Reading
When I die, I mostly want to be known as “that girl who liked to read everywhere she went.” Here I will geek out about books and the places I read them at.

Saturday:

The Roving Vlogger Daily Edition
A video journal of my life filmed on Thursday and Friday.

Sunday:

Miscellaneous
Like this one today! Here I can post fiction, personal reflections, participate in or hold contests, or just take a day off!

So come by on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for the high-effort posts, and the rest of the time for varied fun. (Not to say that editing and uploading videos every single day isn't high-effort, but they're not necessarily exciting.)

My Reasons Why

I think it's important to write down why you want to accomplish your goals when you set them! If I lose these and no new ones come about, then it's time to move on to a new goal.

  • Motivate myself and others to live a vibrant life.
  • Open myself up to different viewpoints and interact with people around the world.
  • Document my days to share with my family and look back on when I'm old and crotchety, while also becoming more comfortable with seeing and expressing myself.
  • Earn enough money to travel for at least 3 months out of the year and have some really cool adventures both near and afar (This is more of a mental trick to play on myself, since I won't be withdrawing my Steemit money this year. But if I earn $800 of unexpected cryptocurrency, then maybe I could talk myself into spending that much on learning wing walking, for example.)

Let me know if you have any feedback and what your own plans for Steemit 2018 are!
