Hear ye, hear ye! Announcing Steemit's first community recipe book to be compiled and edited by @woman-onthe-wing in conjunction with the Steemit community! It will be a published collection of recipes by Steemians from all over the world, available initially as an e-book to the public (not limited to Steemit). The purpose is to provide the public with a really useful resource and inspiration for better health – from meals to simple snacks, for both adults and children.
Most of you will already know how enthusiastic I am about real food and keeping things 100% natural. After completely removing processed foods from my family's diet over 2 years ago, we noticed dramatic physical and mental health improvements. My 2 year old son has never even met his doctor yet. In this culture of convenience food, 40 hour + work weeks, mysterious ailments and declining health, with symptoms we can't quite make sense of... and neither can our doctors, it's blatantly clear to me there's a real need for real food... real quick!
As the host of the Steemit Culinary Challenge I see so many food posts that are not only beautiful to look at, but beautiful through and through. All over the world people are creating recipes invaluable to public health, explaining ingredient choices, why this is better for you than that is, and how you can make wonderful meals and snacks that are completely void of chemicals and harmful ingredients. It's not always easy to make choices that keep us in good health, but the more we can share and help others understand, the more likely people are to choose well. Knowledge is our best weapon is it not!
How can your recipes become part of this publication?
I am launching another contest in a couple of weeks in addition to the SCC. I want to keep the SCC going as it's Steemit's longest running food contest and is still very popular. My new contest is called "Make It Healthy", and will be exclusively for recipes made with 100% natural nutritious healing ingredients. By entering the contest, participants simultaneously consent to the possibility of their recipes becoming part of the publication. All recipes and photography will be fully credited to the creators, of course.
What is the contest about?
In a nutshell - creating healthy homemade alternatives to processed commercial products. A different processed product will be presented each week, e.g frozen ready meal, packet of biscuits etc, and Steemians can then enter the contest by creating healthy alternatives to that product and posting their recipes in response. Simple! Every 4 weeks there will be an 'open round', where instead of being told what to create participants can submit their own original recipes.
What about prizes?
Winning recipes will be awarded an SBD prize, PLUS awarded a place in the recipe book. Weekly prizes will be provided by a 'panel of sponsors' who support the objective of the project and the on-going mission to encourage good health choices. In addition, each entry submitted will receive a share of the reward pool, with a minimum payout of 1 SBD per entry. After the deadline each week all entries will be compiled into one post, with 100% of the SBD rewards to be distributed between all the entries. On one hand it will give incentive to upvote and re-steem to increase the reward pool, but most importantly it will mean all these healthy recipes and information will be shared far and wide across the Steemit community.
There will be more on this new contest over the next week or two. Thanks for reading, and I do hope you fancy getting involved... the more the merrier!
