In one of my previous post I wrote about the details involving my curation strategy. In this part of my Curation Reward post I will share the numbers and graphs of one week of curation and analyze the results.
My Steem Power at the moment is 3108 Steem or 391,723.852 MVESTS. At the time of the curation my Steem Power was around the 2900 mark.
This graph shows the total of one week of curation per author. The total amount of curation I received is 7.036 Steem (American notation so that means a little over 7 Steem).
This means that I can receive 7 Steem on average by curation alone. Just think about it. 7 Steem a week leads to 28 Steem a month. So even if my Steem Power would stay the same I can collect 336 Steem a year by curating.

There are some interesting things to see in the top 10 list. @williams858 who recently became a dolphin is leading the chart with a total of 0.672 Steem.
What surprised me most is that I am in second place. I did not realize that I could collect curation from my own posts, I earned myself a total of 0.611 Steem. @flauwy is in third place which is no surprise because he had some high earning posts at the time. @arturomdg is in 4th place, he is very consistently making nice payouts on his Spanish posts. @pjcswart is in fifth place on my list beating more established authors like @steemeducation, @steembusiness and even @qurator.
This list shows clearly that it pays to upvote minnows even if they are not trending authors. No one in the list with the exception of @flauwy had posts that trended during the week that I earned these curation rewards.
In this graph we can see the total count of received curation rewards. Because of my use of Steemvoter this number is also an indication of the frequency that the author posts.
You can see a relation between my top 10 (total amount) and the times that I received curation rewards (times that the author posts).

This clearly shows that it pays to curate authors who post frequently, the more votes the higher the curation reward per author. Of course my man @flauwy is leading the chart with 15 posts

The highest curation I received came from curating @djynn, closely followed by @pjcswart and @williams858. What surprises me here is that @flauwy is only 8th on the list. This might have to do with the large number of upvotes he received on his trending posts.
The highest curation reward is 0,2 Steem, now this is quite good. It might not seem like much but remember this is just for 1 curation. My average curation per day is 29 so if I would earn this on every curation I would receive 5,8 Steem per day, 40,6 per week. That's over 160 Steem per month!
This chart shows the average amount of curation earned per author.
@bluemist and @clumsysilverdad stand out with an average amount over the 0.1 mark. This deviation is caused by the fact that I only upvoted them once during that week (I promise to do better guys!).
If we look at the average number then we can conclude that this is somewhere between 0.05 and 0.02 Steem. If we take into account that I average about 29 curations a day the total should be between 0.6 and 1.45 Steem a day (ideally) which matches with the 7 Steem I earned that week.
This curation strategy has some great upsides
- Good return on curation
- Support for your fellow minnows
- Minnows are more inclined to return the favor than high grossing authors
- Minnows who grow and turn into dolphins or whales will remember who supported them
In the end it is a win-win situation
