Happy Birth errr Cat Day! Steemian friends, today, i'm sharing a story from the world of cats. I've already introduced the wonderfully unique Scottish Fold named Amber, a cat that think she's a human being. You can read that post HERE:-)
Today, it's time to introduce this group of five cuddly and adorable little cat friends. In March of this year, Amber delivered five little angels to this world, each full of curiosity and plenty of energy. Two of them have folded ears and the other three are straight ears :D
This will be their first introduction to Steemit :>
HELLO! My sweet Steemian friends #_#

These five angels are now 6 months old and very healthy, growing bigger and bigger each day. As they mature, their individual personalities have become more and more prominent, each becoming unique in their own way. Sometimes, I think Amber's babies are not little cats at all, they're more like Tigers 。
Three reasons why I think Amber's given birth to baby Tigers ≧▂≦
They love cardboard boxes
Apparently, cardboard boxes lying around the house should be stored away, if not, cats will grow in them..

In my post about Furby the fluff monster, I showed you how to keep cats occupied so as not to disturb you when using a computer. (Put a cardboard box beside your computer). So, what is it about cardboard boxes that cats find so appealing?
1. Perfect place for hunting
Cardboard boxes give cats an obvious advantage : Since cat's and tigers hunt by ambushing their prey, the cardboard box gives them the perfect place to hide (and retreat)o
2. Stress Relief
Cats and Tigers love to feel safe, at any point in time, feeling secure is of utmost importance. Their instincts tell them that to avoid being attacked by other animals, they should find a small, quiet and secluded place where they can hide from the dangers of the 'outside' world⊙﹏⊙
At Utrecht University, a Veterinarian named Claudia Vinke has studied cat's and how they feel stress. She took cats from an animal shelter and divided them into two groups. One group, were given cardboard boxes, and the other were not. It turns out that their stress levels were significantly different. The ones given cardboard boxes were much less stressed out and were more willing to readily interact with humans, more so than the cats who were given no cardboard boxes to hide in. Vinke said, when cats confront any situation that causes them stress, their instinctual and natural reaction is to find a place to hide. Hiding is therefore their primary strategy of dealing with stress~
3. The hiding dispute
The book The Domestic Cat: The Biology of it's Behavior, explains that Cats when compared with other animals who live in groups, are much less willing to resolve their disputes, instead, they will instinctively choose to reduce their movements to avoid further aggravation. In these situations, cardboard boxes provide a snug and private place for cats to feel free of anxiety, be safe from enemies, and stay away from any unwanted attention. It's like retreating to their own little worldO
4. Cardboard boxes are warm
For both cats and tigers, staying warm is very important. In study published in 2006 by the National Research Council concluded that the ideal temperature for Domestic Cat is between 30 and 36 degrees Celsius, as long as the temperature is warm enough, no energy is wasted in trying to stay warm. On average, this temperature is higher than the ideal temperature for human beings by 6.7℃. This explains why you often see cars lying on cars, and the road. In winter, my cats will lie close to the electric heater and even sometimes rests their head on the heater. I always pick them up straight away because the last thing I want is cat kebabs >_<|||
In reality, most domestic cats live in environments where the temperature averages closer to 22 degrees, this of course feels quite cold to them. This is another reason why cats tend to curl up inside cardboard boxes, it gives them a place to stay warm.
5. Cardboard boxes also serve as great scratching boards.

Happy喵day!
