STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE #39 : Chicken Tofu Baked Balls For Baby (and for Adults) - Finger Foods

Hello everyone,

This week's theme for SCC is not easy for me because I am not yet a parent and I have never made baby foods before. I dont have any idea at all. Even after doing some research, I am not confident to submit any entry but okay, I'll give it a try. This might be a good training for me before having my own kids :-D

This theme reminds me something when I was a kid. My mother used to take care of my little cousin because my aunt had to get back to work back then. My mom sometimes prepared some baby foods for the baby but I often ate it as well because it's so good that I can also eat it. It was like a veggies purée or some kind of porridge. Sorry cousin, I stole a bit your food :-D

So, this recipe was inspired from here but I modified it to my version. I did check and recheck the guidelines just to make sure that I'm good to go with the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 250 gr ground chicken
  • 250 gr firm tofu, mashed
  • 1 medium carrot, cut into tiny cubes
  • 1 small stick celery, chopped
  • 1 spring onion, chopped
  • 1 handful spinach, chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 tsp cumin

Methods

  • In a large clean bowl, place all the ingredients.

  • Mix everything with your hand until it is well incorporated.

  • Preheat oven to 200° C and line a baking tray with parchment paper or silicone baking mat. Scoop one tablespoon of the mixture, form the into a ball. At this stage, if you make a big batch of the recipe, you may freeze it.

  • Bake for 12 minutes or until it's gently brown.

  • Ready to serve :-)

Me and my partner tested some of it and it's amazingly good even though I only seasoned the balls with cumin. I didn't add any salt in it. I even delivered these finger foods for my mother in law :-D She liked it. Unfortunately I couldn't deliver some to my nephew ( 2,5 yo) to test it. But I am sure he will like it, especially when he sees the picture below ;-)
