A Weird Summation linked with our Universe’s Existence

Today, I am going to do something illegitimate according to our usual mathematics. I don’t really understand what I am doing. But I am doing it anyway, just to explore the Unknown ...
sum to minus one twelfth.png
We know that when we add the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4 and so on forever, we keep getting bigger and bigger numbers. Instead we get a seemingly ridiculous number like negative a twelfth. We started with positive numbers, how did we ever get negative? The numbers snowball, but we end up getting a small magnitude number. One twelfth is even smaller than the smallest number (viz. 1) we started adding with! So this is patent nonsense!

Or is it? Physicists tell us that they do these kinds of “illegal” divergent series all the time and they get physically meaningful answers! And they say the 12 from the above series is how we get 26 dimensions (26 = 2 + 2×12) in our universe. That means we are living inside a contradiction?
Hmmmmm ...

Now don’t ask me how to explain this. I really don’t know. But maybe the eastern Hindu/Buddhist philosophers are right. The world that we see around us is “maya” ... an illusion. This is a dream ... or nightmare.
