My friend started a literary movement and this morning asked me to write a poem for her. I have lectures the whole day and I wrote this whilst in my Macroeconomics class. I haven't had time to edit and so it's kinda shaky but I don't wanna miss a day so, here goes. Keep Doing You.
Hollup!
You write, don’t you?
You push words around and get them to do your bidding.
Rhyme, meter and all that, is child’s play to you.
Or maybe it isn’t but you still push words around.
You have a silver tongue
You can bounce words around
You seduce minds
With the tenor of your speech
And the timbre of your voice
Are you a designer?
Pictures, they call to you.
You see something and you want to immortalize it in pixels
Or maybe you don’t
You imagine something and then you express it
In colour and in black and white
You pixelate your vision
Well, here’s the thing
I’m inviting you, yes you
Nope, the dude over your shoulder isn’t reading your text
I’m asking you to join Ink Up
What’s that, you say
Well, I’m not quite sure myself
But let’s put it this way
Did you know you do your best work
When you’re surrounded with people
Whose minds work like yours?
Perhaps you want honest opinions about your work
You want to know how you’re doing
Or maybe you’re a good critic
But have no literary inclinations whatsoever
Or perhaps you’re like me
Getting inspiration is kinda hard
And putting words to paper is hard
Even though they’re bouncing around in your head
Join Ink Up!
Let’s have some literary fun together!
Maybe I’m lying
And maybe this is all too good to be true
But you won’t know until you join
What have you to lose?
Schrodinger’s cat, my friend.
