Hey there!
This little tune is by one of my favorite Irish/Celtic trad composers, Turlough O’Carolan. O’Carolan was a blind Irish harpist, who traveled the length and breadth of the emerald isle, composing tunes as he went. Often, he would compose tunes as payment or in gratitude to those who put him up for the night, fed him, or otherwise supported his art. Those tunes were often given the name of the person he wrote them for. O’Carolan’s music is unique, in that it is a perfect blending of the traditional Celtic melodic structure (modal) and the classical Baroque convention of the times.
Enjoy! 🙂
