SteemPH Davao LIVE!

April is going to be a big month for us in Davao. The vision, the plans, the preparations will come into fruition as we hit Davao this April.

Homesteading Brigade

We have made the final arrangements in Libertad National High School as the school administrators gave a us a go signal for the Homesteading Brigade to commence at 9am on April 4 2018. 50 students signed up for the seminar, where we will be accompanied by 20 educators and 10 volunteers.

We are happy to share that there have been a couple of developments in the school since this project was proposed some 3 months ago. For one, the room in the picture above has been demolished and a new school building will rise to house more classrooms for the upcoming school year. The city government has finally stepped in to make sure that all the classrooms in this school are conducive for learning.

The school library is also getting a make-over thanks to a generous donor. As you can see in the pictures below, the students themselves are the ones working on making their library better.

As for SteemPH, we can focus on the planting materials which will be given to the students. We hope that with the help of these materials, they will be able to grow healthy vegetables that they can put on their table and their lunch packs. We are bringing the following planting materials and will be giving them away to the students who will take the homesteading seminar.

We will be given time to speak with the educators of the school after the homesteading seminar. We plan to use this time to introduce Steemit to them.

Davao Stop for the SteemPH Meet-Up Caravan

The SteemPH Meet-Up Caravan is spearheaded by @steemitph and @dandalion, who will also be in Davao for the Homesteading Brigade project in Samal. As of this writing, they were able to hold 2 meet-ups; the first one was in Malolos, Bulacan on March 10. And just yesterday, the second meet-up was held in Kawit, Cavite. Although the meet-ups were originally planned for areas outside the big cities in the Philippines, it will make a Davao Stop. Its objectives are:

  • Start or improve engagement between existing Steemians located outside of Metro Manila
  • Provide educational materials to improve existing Steemians' experience in the platform with the help of @steemnest
  • Encourage Steemit promotion among existing Steemians by requiring them to bring a non-Steemian friend to the meet ups
  • Explore community related events in each location to improve visibility for Steemit, and support @steemph's vision

We are very fortunate that a Steemian in Davao has offered their home as our venue. We won't publish their address here, of course, so if you wish to participate in this meet-up that is scheduled on April 7 at 1pm onwards, please reach out to us in Discord. As with all the previous meet-ups, steemian participants are encouraged to bring along at least one non-steemian who will be introduced to the platform. We will cover topics like Blockchain Technology, Steem Blockchain, Powering-Up, Content Creation, and Witness Voting. The vacant roles (and the responsibilities that come with it) for the SteemPH Davao Core team will also be discussed and will be opened for application during the meet-up.

If you are in Davao and would like to join us in these activities, please comment down below or reach out to us in Steemit Philippines Discord.

If you would like to support initiatives on community building and enrichment, kindly check out @steemph, @steemph.cebu, @steemph.iligan, @steemph.davao and @steemph.manila
