More Updates on the Coin 1oz Silver Steem Coin

I was blown away by all of the interest in a Steem Coin!

After talking with @Phelimint who is a part owner of phelimint.com, we have decided to use them to handle the 1 oz Silver Steem coin.

Phelimint focuses on semi-numismatic coins, which is exactly what we are creating!

Coin Updates

Business Strike

From a pricing perspective and after the overwhelming number of comments for the business strike, we have decided for this first batch to be a business strike.

Back of Coin/Obverse Design

We will have a contest for the Front of Coin/Reverse (more info on this in another post). The Canadian Maple Leaf is a favorite coin among many in the silver community. We took that design and implemented some of its style with the Back of Coin/Obverse side of the coin.

Design Contest

For the Front of Coin/Reverse, we are accepting ideas for the design contest. In a few days, we will gather the ideas and allow designers to design the coin based on this idea or an idea of their own. This Wednesday the design contest will begin and will last for a week. After that the community will vote on which coin design is the favorite of the Steemit user base.

Pricing

After working with the mint, we are able to get the price at 23.50 per coin at current spot prices. Each coin will come with its own unique serial number, COA, and capsule.

However, as most of you know, the price of silver highly fluctuates and over the course of a couple weeks the price of silver can vary widely.

Limited Mintage

This Steemit coin will have a limited mintage of only 1,500 coins.

Updates to Shipping

Canada

All orders with a final destination of Canada will be shipped directly from Phelimint. The shipping rate is $8-18 depending on province since there is no flat rate option.

United States

All orders with a final destination in the United States will be shipped via Priority Mail for $15.

All Other Countries

Due to the high shipping costs from Canada, we are still working on a way to efficiently ship the coins. Our thought is possibly to find certain users in a specific country and have them ship the coins to the users inside that country. This would offset a good portion of the shipping cost, but increases the risk on the shipper.

Payment

@Phelimint is working on being able to accept Bitcoin for payment. They are still a few weeks out from being able to accept BTC, but as it currently stands you should be able to pay with that. This method of payment is preferable for everyone. Phelimint is willing to accept orders by credit card, but you may be subject to higher fees. For those wanting to power down in order to purchase the coins, now would be a good time!

Free Shipping/Bulk Discounts

Depending on the total number of coins ordered from a specific user, we may be able to incorporate a bulk discount or free shipping. We will know more on this once we get closer to the order launch date.

Timeline

It will take approximately 2 months from when the coins are ordered until they are shipped as the art design, die creation, and coin striking each take a few weeks.

Update: After talking with @Andrarchy we had to make a small change. Steemit, Inc. has strict protection using their name, so the coin has been changed to "Steem" instead of "Steemit" since Steem is open sourced.
