Steemit's Own Original 1oz Silver Coin - Be a part of History - Gauging the Interest of the Steemit Community

How much do you love Steemit?

Do you currently own or want to own Silver?

What if I told you could purchase a 1oz Silver Steemit Coin?

This could soon be a reality!!

After talking with a few other Steemians who are as enthusiastic about silver as I am, we have decided to bring this proposal to the Steemit community.

Speaking on behalf of the Silver community on Steemit, we propose to create a custom 1oz .999 fine silver coin that is special to Steemit.

You do not need to be part of #SteemsSilverGold to order this coin as anyone can order it.

The price of silver has been pretty stable over the past year. Now is a great time to make your first purchase of silver or add to your existing stack.

Business Strike vs Proof Strike

link

The first option, that must be decided upon is whether to go with a business or proof strike as the mint offers both. The business strike is the cheaper option, but doesn’t have the same finish as the proof strike. For your help, we have included a description for each of them.
With a business strike,

A long shinny strip of silver is fed into a machine. This machine punches out blank silver round. Once punched out the silver rounds travel down a conveyor belt and then they land in a bucket. Each blank after falling from the conveyor belt will clink together in the bucket as they fall in. This action can leave tiny little marks on each blank. When the coins go to press those small marks are typically covered up by the design.

On the other hand, with a proof strike,

This (the tiny little marks on each blank) would not happen, the level or care and time that go into to insuring a perfect finish is extensive. That’s what constitutes most of the price difference. You’re paying for a perfect finish and the time it takes to create it.

You might be thinking let’s go with a proof strike, but the price difference is staggering to say the least (more on this later).

The only downside to the business strike is the minimum order requirement of 1,000 coins.

Price

With most things, when buying in bulk the price per unit decreases. The price per ounce of silver fluctuates on a daily basis so this price may change depending on the price of silver at the time of ordering. Since this is a custom coin there a cost associated with creating a die, but this is included in the cost per coin.

Business Strike (Estimated cost per coin at a price of $17.50 per ounce of silver)

QuantityCost Per CoinSerial Number on Edge
100023.50Yes
250022.75Yes
500022.50Yes
1000022.00Yes

Proof Strike (Estimated cost per coin at a price of $17.50 per ounce of silver)

QuantityCost Per CoinSerial Number on Edge
10042.00Yes
25034.00Yes
50030.00Yes
100029.00Yes
250027.00Yes
500026.00Yes
1000025.00Yes

My thought is to go with Business Strike assuming we reach the 1,000 coin threshold, but I want to hear from the rest of the community.

Minimum Order

There is no minimum order.

Payment

The mint does not accept Bitcoin, but we are willing to accept Bitcoin (BTC), Steem (STEEM), or Steem Dollars (SBD) for this order.

Shipping

Shipping is $20 per order within the United States
Every order is fully insured as the coins will be shipped within the United States using Priority Mail.
International shipping may be possible if some Steemians know the best way to ship silver, but the cost may be more.
All packages over 25 coins will require a signature confirmation.
You will receive an email once your package has been shipped.

Design Contest

If we move forward with this order we will have a contest to design the front and the back of the coin. More details will emerge over the following days to weeks depending on the feedback we get from the community.

Now is the time to get into silver as most of us in the precious metals world believe the price is going to be much higher in the years to come.

Help to spread the word about this idea to other Steemians by Resteeming this.

Are you interested in purchasing some Silver Steemit Coins? If you are, please include the strike type (proof or business) and the number you would want to purchase.
