The much publicized and awaited boxing match between Mcgregor and Mayweather is just a couple of days away. In this post, I look at the key career stats.
Mayweather
Mayweather is one of the greatest boxers of all time. He is undefeated in his professional career, his first professional fight was way back in 1996, and he has won every single boxing match he has fought in since then.He is coming out of retirement for this blockbuster fight with Mcgregor having retired in 2015 after his last fight with Andre Berto.

McGregor
Mcgregor is a professional Mixed Martial Artist since he has been cleared by the WBO to participate in this blockbuster boxing match, I think it is safe to call him a professional boxer too. He is currently the UFC lightweight champion

Who is your money on ?
Mayweather is odds on favorite to win and with good reason too - he is undefeated, and he is fighting someone with very little professional boxing experience. However, here I am going to try making a case for McGregor.
Mayweather is seen by many as a conservative and defensive boxer; he tends to prioritize protecting himself when facing his opponents. McGregor, on the other hand, is a bit more aggressive. For the analysis, I tried to extract information on McGregor's 24 fights and determine the fights he won by knockouts and where the final blow of the knockout was delivered by a punch. For Mayweather, of course, it is easy to conclude all of his knockout wins were punches hehe. After extracting the information, I computed percentage wins of both fighters. Here is what I found:
You can see from the chart above, McGregor had a higher percentage of his wins coming from knockout punches. I know this was a different sport but if your money is on McGregor, just hope he lands a similar punch that can knock Mayweather out. Don't forget to send me a tip if McGregor wins hehe.
Let me know in the comments who your money is on.
