Alvaro Borja Morata is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a striker for Chelsea and the Spain national team. Chelsea has confirmed the signing of Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata on a five-year contract. Morata, 24, joins Chelsea on a deal reported to be worth an initial £58 million which could eventually rise to £70m. After signing, Morata told the Chelsea website “I am so happy to be here, it is an incredible emotion to be part of this big club. I am looking to work hard, score as many goals as I can and to win trophies as possible.” Morata becomes Chelsea’s most expensive signing since Fernando Torres signed for Chelsea from Liverpool for £50m.

Speaking at a news conference in Beijing, Antonio Conte said “We have added a fantastic striker, even at a young age he has won a lot already, and we are looking forward to welcoming him to the squad. I think for sure this is a good signing for us. He is a young player, but has a lot of experience; he went to Juventus and Real Madrid. He has a lot of experience, and I think this is a good sign for us.

Morata, born I Madrid signed for Real Madrid in 2008 from Getafe CF. He played for Real Madrid C as a junior for two years. In July 2010, after a successful season with the Juvenil A team where he scored 34 goals, he gained promotion to the Real Madrid Castilla. Morata made his debut for the first team on 12 December 2010. On 19 July 2014, Juventus F.C announced the signing of Morata on a five-year deal for €20m, with a buyback option for Madrid. He scored a total of 15 league goals while he was at Juventus before Madrid activated their buy back clause and re-signed him for €30m.

Morata is good in the air and at holding up the ball, with clinical finishing ability, quick feet, and excellent movement. He stood out for his pace during his first season at Juventus, he stood out for his pace, energy, and work-rate on the pitch, while his technique, opportunism, and positional sense saw him score several crucial goals. He is a versatile, well-rounded striker that is capable of playing as the main striker or linking up play between the lines and can even play out wide on the wing; he’s also a good penalty taker.
