Steemvoter Week In Review for Apr. 22 - 29

week in review.jpg

Today we take a break from guild vote nominations to bring you another edition of the Steemvoter Week In Review newsletter. This is an opportunity to highlight winning SV Guild picks from the previous week. Now that post payouts happen at the end of a 7-day window, we feel it's fair to give our winners one more chance at getting some recognition before their payout periods close. These are truly wonderful diamonds in the rough that you won't want to miss!

In addition, we'll share any updates that the owners of Steemvoter care to pass along plus a Tip of the Week for getting the most out of the Steemvoter service. Without further ado, we present... drum roll please...

First Performance of "Melody" in a Song Contest - Thank You Steemit by @kuttmargo

In this video post @kuttmargo & his band perform an original song he's been working on. We love seeing budding musicians using Steemit to showcase their work and reach new audiences! Nice performance @kuttmargo , keep those creative juices flowing and we wish you much success with future endeavors.

Compounding Interest - Life Expansion by @worldclassplayer

This post is an intensely personal series of self-reflections on life. But the tone is upbeat as @worldclassplayer makes a commitment to turning things around and improving his situation. It's interesting how he looks at life as an investment - and if you make good, healthy decisions now, you'll reap the rewards later on as "compounding interest". For having the courage to share these thoughts with the community and take a step down the path of a fulfilling life, @worldclassplayer deserves a guild vote. Steem on @worldclassplayer and never stop striving for betterment in all things!

The Case Against DynCorp: Pizzagate Wiki's first (and totally free) e-book! by @rebelskum

Here we have a piece of well written investigative journalism pulling back the curtain on the questionable activities of defense contractor DynCorp International. @rebelskum has been generous enough to compile his findings into a free e-book linked to his post. We applaud his efforts to shine some light on a concerning situation. It's certainly a lot of food for thought! Keep questing after the truth @rebelskum , and enjoy your guild vote!

Surfing Fukushima: Passion Outweighs Risk by @v4vapid

Author @v4vapid joined our community in November 2016, almost six months ago and has amassed 152 followers to date by posting regularly on Steemit. This latest post shows great insight into the human spirit, depicting surfers braving the nuclear-contaminated waters of Fukushima, Japan, putting their love of surfing above their personal health and safety. Although one can have admiration for such bravery and passion, we do urge readers to "not try this at home" and surf responsibly! Thanks @v4vapid for showing us such interesting human behavior. Steem on!

hammer.jpg Steemvoter Service Update

Work continues to go smoothly on the ongoing hardware migration for our web site. It's a slow process, with lots of intricate moving parts that need to be adjusted one by one to keep things from breaking. If you guys never notice anything amiss and the web site keeps working like it's supposed to, then we've done our job the right way!

Last weekend we moved our back-end database to a new server, which was probably the largest & trickiest step in the overall migration. With that successfully out of the way, we are focusing on tidying up some minor odds & ends in preparation for the next step: moving over the code for the web site itself. We anticipate it will still be a few more weeks before this project is completely wrapped up.

lightbulb.jpg Tip of the Week - max voting rule limit

Did you know that the maximum number of voting rules you can add depends on how much steem power your account has? If you look at your accounts, you'll see this listed under "Max Rules":

april30_tip1.jpg

So in the above example, the @williambanks account has 11 voting rules configured out of a maximum of 50 allowed. Note that as you add rules, this read-out will not update right away, but it should always be correct next time you log into your account or if you just hit your browser's refresh button.

Also, your "Last Steem Power" will not update automatically. As your steem power increases, be sure to hit the "GET SP" button regularly to refresh it and see if you've passed the threshold to get your max voting rules bumped up to the next level. This chart shows the various thresholds:

Steem Power (SP)Max Rules
< 503
50 - 995
100 - 49910
500 - 99925
1000 - 499950
5000 - 9999100
10,000 - 49,999200
50k+500

Note that subscribing to our premium service, which costs $3 SBD per month, will increase your limit to 500 voting rules regardless of your SP. That is the highest amount anyone can have.

And that's it for this edition of the Steemvoter Week In Review. We wish all of you a great week ahead!
