Now we bring you another edition of the Steemvoter Week In Review newsletter. This is an opportunity to highlight winning SV Guild picks from the previous week. Since post payouts happen at the end of a 7-day window, we feel it's fair to give our winners one more chance at getting some recognition before their payout periods close. These are hand-picked community recommendations that you won't want to miss!
In addition, we'll share any updates that the owners of Steemvoter care to pass along plus a Tip of the Week for getting the most out of the Steemvoter service. Without further ado, we present... drum roll please...
Astrophotography: The Milky Way Core by @ilvacca
This winning author @ilvacca joined recently in May, we are proud to have him join the Steem community and believe he as a lot to offer. His name is Alessio and he is an astrophotographer & astronomer enthusiast, the photos you see on his post of the constellations were taken with his own Canon camera, quite amazing. This blog entry reminds us that there is truly a vastness out there greater than ourselves, space is massive and we are so tiny in comparison here on earth.
So many wonders lay out beyond, so put your mobile devices down for a second and ponder how huge that really is, most of us forget, but Alessio is fully aware and immersed in his passion for astronomy and the great beyond, his passion has led to his work being featured on BBC Sky at Night, Astronomy Magazine, Coelum, Ciel&Espace and others.
Keep up the amazing and educational posts @ilvacca, the SteemVoter guild is proud to have supported your work.
The Art Of Learning - Let's Help Out Each Other by @aashishkandel
This post discusses how we should all cultivate a lifelong habit of learning in order to get the most out of our brief time on this planet. Author @aashishkandel works in the well known "teach a man to fish" morality lesson, but gives it his own unique twist and ties it in with the Steemit experience. We just hope none of the minnows out there in the vast Steem Ocean get themselves caught on a fisherman's hook!
@aashishkandel has been doing well for himself in the couple months since he joined Steemit, and we're impressed by how rapidly he's increased his following. Evidently he lives by the lessons he teaches, and for that reason alone is quite deserving of a boost from the guild vote. Never stop learning @aashishkandel !
Hardfork impact on Voting and Vote Power
With the upcoming hardfork as set out in the @steemitblog post Pre-Release: HF19 Linear Rewards!, everyone's voting influence will now be directly proportional to their stake in SP holdings and not exponential as one holds a larger SP stake as is currently the case. This will aid foster equality on the platform, at least that's the aim of the hardfork codenames "equality".
Perhaps the most notable change to your voting well-being is that your 100% vote will post-hardfork be 4 times as strong as before the hard-fork, but will also drain 4 times more power. So if you previously were voting 40 posts per day at 100% you can now only vote 10 posts per day at 100% without draining your vote power any lower than what you have been used to.
This means that you should adjust your rules on https://steemvoter.com to 1/4 of what they are now if you don't want a significant drop in voting power, on your dashboard go to the rules section and click "edit" next to the author you want to change your vote weight for and then change the Vote Power to 25% if you want the equivalent of what would have been 100% pre-hardfork. We don't yet have a "edit all" feature so unfortunately you will have to edit each one by one for now, in future we will implement something to easily edit multiple rules.
And that's it for this edition of the Steemvoter Week In Review. We wish all of you a great week ahead!
