The moment the snow melted we went to check the front and the backyard and of course the frog. I haven't seen him but since it doesn't smell like anything died in the strawberry house, I'm thinking he must have just burrowed himself in the pot. That ice came from the top of the pop up greenhouse we were letting dry in the backyard.
Here's a short video I made while drawing a face on it on Paint.
These days, the strawberries aren't doing well in a sense that perhaps cause during the snowy days, the greenhouse must have been misty inside since I had to close the whole door and the only ventilation there is that small window. The flowers and the fruits of the strawberry had mildew so I had to cut and get rid of them. I forgot to take pics of them petals and fruit tips that grew gray hair like mildew on them before ridding them though.
I don't mind it about the strawberry but what saddened me the most is the pot of chamomile plant I've managed to finally grow this year. They, too got it so am worried that nothing may sprout back next year. Fingers crossed they do. The seeds were a gift to my husband, they're not just organic for some reasons the label says "real chamomile." Made me wonder whether there actually is a fake chamomile?
It's my first year to ever grow one and I was pretty excited when they finally sprouted. Oh these pics were taken back in summer, some time in June. I actually thought the plant would die till they gave me their first bud.
If you yourself have a chamomile plant then you know how teeny tiny those buds actually are. At that time, I wonder what they would actually look like when in bloom cause back when I was still in the Philippines, the only chamomile I used to get were dried flowers of it or the teaed version. One of the parents of my students used to bring me these to boost my immune system every Dec back then and when I came here, I had to often take chamomile tea to do the same thing specially that it actually snowed during my very first year here.
I never thought that the flowers are really petite (that's my pinkie) and delicate. Somehow, I was wondering whether I could gather as much to dry and make tea later. Some time in August, these were my first flower harvest.
Am not sure whether it was wise soaking them in water before hanging them upside down to dry but you see, they have tiny insect in them that so I let them crawl out because in my experience drying the lavender flowers, the insect doesn't really leave the flower even when you let them crawl out of them, not all of them so even though I already shook the flower off and let them crawl out of it on the table, I also soaked them to make sure everything's gone.
Before the snow fell, I moved it in the strawberry green house because it still has flowers in it but I guess it was a mistake doing that cause they, too catch mildew. I had to cut the top with the mildew on it and throw them away. Though I believe that some flowers managed to seed, I didn't really get to collect them anymore so I just let it drop in the same pot hoping they'd just return next year. I'm not so sure of that so I wonder. Normally, this is the time to ask K but she's out of the picture so I guess, I thought I'd ask instead.
I guess, I will have to unzip the door let the whole greenhouse air out as soon as its sunny again to make sure the mildew doesn't spread on my other plants in there. It's pretty crowded in there now so contagion may spread faster. Of course, I already removed the pot and moved it outside where it's pretty sunny.
I posted about this to ask whether you happen to know whether those chamomile seed would just sprout next year or do you think it would have been wiser that I had them harvested and sown next year? 15% up to anyone who can tell me in the comment with source. Another 15% up to anyone who could suggest a solution to reduce dampness in the greenhouse
so the mildew incident doesn't repeat itself in there again, prefer it ORGANIC though.
This content's 100% mine. I took each picture with my smartphone.
