Honesty Observation: Not The Right Time To Be Honest

Got a notice that my driver's licence was going to expire soon so I filled out my renewal form and headed down to my local branch.

Went in, got a ticket and after a short wait, my number was called to counter 5. To be honest I was a bit worried when they asked me to do the eye test, I had to put on my glasses and read one line of letters on a wall behind her, but once I started reading it out loud I realised that it wasn't that difficult. The letter were pretty reasonably sized allowing you to read it even if your eyesight was not 100%.

The process was smooth and the staff was friendly, so I was at the end of the renewal process in no time. I started to look around a bit and that’s when I noticed that the gentleman next to me on counter 4 was having a bit of an argument with the staff.

I thought he must have been rejected from his licence renewal or something, so I leaned over a bit started to listen in on the conversation, and here is what I heard:

Staff: "Can you read the letters on the wall behind me please" (The same letters which I just read aloud a minute ago).
Man: "Nah, I got bad eye sight I don’t think I can read it"

Staff: "Just give it a go please"
Man: "K J I C I D H"

Staff: "Yea you almost got it, but instead of the 'C' I think you read 'O' "

At that point I was like @_@, didn’t she just give him the answer? All he had to do at that point was just repeat and change the letter "O" to an "C".

But to my surprise the man replied "I told you right? I got bad eye sight I can't read that"...

So the staff was forced to fail his renewal and now he has to go to an Optometrist to have his eyes checked…
