Part II

According to the silver dragon, the black dragon wanted tk attack the kingdom!

*Thuk! *

Matthew dropped his pickaxe in shock.

"Why would he do that?" Matthew asked, panicking.

The silver dragon understand Matthew's fright and didn't look down on him. If he were in Matthew's shoes, he too would panic.

"Calm down, boy! There's no use in panicking," scolded the silver dragon

It then added, "You should think of the way to warn your king instead."

Matthew, took several deep breathe in an attempt to calm himself. Several minutes later, Matthew calmed down.

"Why would the black dragon want to attack the kingdom?" Matthew asked.

The silver dragon let out a grunt.

"Hmmp! The black dragon is very ambitious and have always eyed this land. He wanted to make your kingdom his," he answered.

"The only reason he did not attack before is that the red dragon that protects this land is strong, but the red dragon disappeared several years ago and haven't returned," add the silver dragon.

Matthew didn't know that the red dragon was their protector, he did heard about the red dragon but didn't knew much about him.

"Did the red dragon left?" Matthew asked.

"Most likely. The red dragon is one of the oldest dragon, and had lived for uncountable years. Compare to him, the black dragon and I are like children," aswered the silver dragon.

"Why did he leave?" Matthew asked quickly.

"... Probably, to die. We dragons are long lived but not immortal, we will die of old age too," answered the silver dragon, sighing.

Hearing what the silver dragon said, Matthew felt sad. The red dragon have always protected this land, yet most are not aware of it.

"Lord silver dragon, did you try to stop the black dragon? Is that why the two of you fought?" Matthew asked.

"Indeed, I tried to stop him but his powers are slightly stronger than mine," the silver dragon asnwered.

Matthew contemplates and then asked again. "How long will it take for his injury to completely heal?"

"Not long, we dragons have superior regenerative capability. At most it would take a month," answered the silver dragon.

*Thump! *

Matthew's heart almost stopped, a month might seem long but gathering the army and asking for help from the allied kingdom will take more than a month!

"Is there no other way?" Matthew asked, desperate.

"There is! If My injury heals quicker than that of the black dragon, I, along with your kindom's army could defeat the black dragon," answered the silver dragon.

"How?" Matthew excitedly asked.

The silver dragon contemplated for a moment then answerd.

"We dragons have special physiques, and requires different cures if we wish to heal our injuries quickly," he said

"In my case, I needed a magical herb called the silver-winged dahlia," the silver dragon added.

[Silver-winged dahlia? It sounded familiar... oh right! Amy have a book about magical herbs,] Matthew thought.

"Is it a herb that can only be found in several dangerous location?" asked Matthew.

The silver dragon was pleased that Matthew seemed to have some knowledge about the silver-winged dahlia.

"Good boy! It seemed that you are aware of it," praised the silver dragon.

"It was recorded in a book I borrowed from a friend," Matthew answered embarrasingly.

The silver dragon nodded and tells Matthew that the nearest location of the herb is in the "Forest of Gloom". He then then asked him to hurry back to the kingdom and tell his king about the situation. Plucking one of his scale, he gave it to Matthew as proof to show the king, thus avoiding any complications that could arise.

Saying his goodbye, Matthew quickly left.
