First of all I want to apologize for not being around the last few days. I was travelling with some friends from Spain and my computer got smashed... We went to Berlin, Munich and its surroundings. The plan was to blog about it "live" but the laptop said goodbye on the way... That´s why I would appreciate a lot your support to get a new one before I start my world trip.
Obviously I will tell you about my adventures in the next few days... here a little taste of Bavaria!
I went south for you to get some pictures of traditional street art in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Oberammergau und Grainau
The most famous ones for tourists are probably the "Hänsel and Gretel Haus".. an orphanage painted with fairy tale characters.

When you get to Bavaria, Austria and Tirol look out for this kind of paintings. They are everywhere in the villages. The official name is "Lüftmalerei or Lüftelmalerei" which means painting at the air... the antique street art.
A lot of the buildings are completely painted at the front... today you would probably call that street art or graffiti... they started it hundreds of years ago.
like "tattoos for buildings" they show what is/was important for the owner. There are a lot of religious paintings but also scenes of the daily farmer life and sayings.
Originally the color of the building was mixed up with the buildings plaster in a chemical reaction which makes it last longer. Today they use weather proof paintings.
