After work I decided to walk around Newcastle with my Nikon D3400. With only a kit lens at my disposal (18mm-55mm, max aperture of f/5.6) getting adequate light without too much noise can be a major challenge but it was good fun and some much needed practice.
I did my best to expose for the highlights and then removed the shadows in Polarr, a free to use editing program.
The below shot could have turned out so much nicer if I'd put in the effort to get close... Lesson learned.
I had a mini tripod for this water shot and used a 1/30 exposure time. This is a well renown restaurant called Scratchley's which juts out over the water casting nice long reflective light beams onto the slightly disturbed waters surface.
I hope you liked the shots. It's always fun to get out and shoot and I especially like night photography. I'm definitely interested in investing in a cheap little prime lens that has a better aperture. I was thinking the Nikon 50mm f/1.8, so if you have any experience with it or other street photography lens options feel free to let me know your thoughts :)
