Inspired by #sublimesunday a tag from @c0ff33a, #beautifulsunday (hosted by @ace108) and a beautiful Sunday!
I spent a sublime Sunday away from home. A good friend invited us to spend a week in Iasi, a beautiful city in northern Romania. The former capital of Romania during the First World War.
The symbol of the city, the Palace of Culture, is the zero point where our journey starts.
The Palace of Culture is located in the center of the city in an area where there are plenty of places to feel good, walking, shopping, entertainment, and architecture. I spent a few hours there, to the terraces and walk around.
This place of entertainment and culture at the same time is highly appreciated by both tourists and townspeople, equally young and old. In the immediate vicinity are countless old buildings, in particular churches and fortified monasteries.
After hours of walking and ... coffee, a little food was well worth it. Food on the street, there are many small pastries selling relatively specific food of the region. The region is called Moldova. Pies, sandwiches and a kind of hot dog.
I stayed all day on the street, a very beautiful and warm day, almost a summer day. I've seen many interesting things and places, let me show you just a few of them:
Gold car (not just gold, a gold mosaic)
Beautiful flowers (a detail of the flowers that were around us)
A man hung by a building (fortunately just a puppet), the modern building of the theater, called the Cube! The hanging was a prototype of the characters of Ion Luca Caragiale, Romania's greatest playwright.
An interesting vision, I've never seen anything like this before!
A market full of pigeons. Pigeons waiting to be fed. So they were taught by tourists.
Walking causes hunger. I need a more consistent meal so the solution is a soup and a little piece of fish(with garlic). Very tasty!
This food has strengthened our powers for approaching evening. Tonight will end with an opera show! Don Giovanni, Mozart's very famous opera...so we go to the building of the opera, a historical monument that was built between 1894-1896 by the Viennese architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer
The very good and fairly modern show, lasers have been used to recreate the strange and scary atmosphere in which a ghost speaks!
Success was great. These are the final applause! This is a shot with smartphone so, unfortunately, the quality is not so good.
The main reason for the trip to Iasi was to see this opera show. It was a great show. It was a very beautiful day (evening) on Sundays.
It's already been night, we're tired and it's time to get back to the hotel.
When I thought that I was close to the well-deserved rest and sleep...I realized that I was wrong! I saw during the day that a scene was being prepared, but the show from the opera made me forget about this event.
In front of the Palace of Culture, a rock concert took place, with the participation of three of the best Romanian bands. That's what I'm about to tell you next Sunday.
I can say with certainty that this was a wonderful and sublime Sunday!
