I haven't drawn anything in a long time. I've seen a lot of art contests here and haven't found the time to submit something new for them. The opportunity to get into drawing again came in the form of an art party we had with @manouche, @karunya, a friend called Alex and his brother, Basil. We got together for a night of artistic synergy to spend some time just creating stuff. This contest hosted by @sethlinson seemed ideal as a lot of my past doodles have been surreal in nature to some extent. I'm not yet talented enough to replicate the things I see in my mind. I sort of reverse-engineered this drawing using things that I could draw and combined them to form a surreal piece.
The Entry
The Process
I start by drawing out a base with pencil. It's done freehand to roughly mark out shapes.
I then ink out the pencil lines with different line thicknesses and add a base layer of colour.
I then work on the smaller areas within the pen outlines to add detail.
I then work on the colouring, using different media. I'm still getting used to using colour and didn't spend too much time on blending and perfecting the background. A few final touches later, the piece is finished.
I would've added more detail but spent the entire art party on just this. It was a lot of fun drawing though and we had a really successful art party.
The media
I didn't use everything here, but this is all the art stuff we had as outlets for our creativity.

the awesome drawdiction project @manouche is doing on her blog.
She also did this awesome pastel portrait while I was getting surreal.
@karunya is busy juggling her dance and writing job and is also an excellent blog to check out for an abundance of creativity.
Alex and Basil aren't on steemit yet, but will hopefully consider joining this global art party.
