What is a dynamo ?? What is the function of the dynamo. Usually this question I ask before the students do the experiment.

Dynamo

A dynamo is an electrical generator that produces direct current with the use of a commutator. Dynamos were the first electrical generators capable of delivering power for industry, and the foundation upon which many other later electric-power conversion devices were based, including the electric motor, the alternating-current alternator, and the rotary converter.

Bicycle dynamo

But here we will discuss only about the bicycle dynamo, we know that the bicycle dynamo is a small generator that can produce very small electric current and the working principle of the dynamo is the occurrence of energy motion is converted into electrical energy.

The use of electrical energy on the bike is usually only used for headlights and rear, and the process lights up is determined by the speed of motion so that the faster the motion it will produce a large electric current.

In essence the bicycle dynamo is a rotating magnet and a fixed coil. And also when the bicycle wheel is rotated and the dynamo will rotate so that the wheel will rotate the magnet normally dynamo can produce a voltage of 6 to 12 Volts.

Who is Michael Faraday

Michael Faraday is A scientist from England who dubbed the "Father of Electricity". He was born in England in 1791 and died in 1867. He is well known for his service as the first person to research on electricity and magnetism, scientists now say that he is the greatest researcher of all time. Many of the concepts he has obtained are used up until today and helpful to new scientists in making a study of modern physics.

Proof of bicycle dynamo work by student

I provide ways of proving how the dynamo can generate electrical energy so that it can light up. I told the students to bring the equipment used to make the experiment such as dynamo, bicycle chain, nail, power cord, board, led light, bike gear. To make it easy for students to make miniature work of dynamo I give handbook of student work which is complete with experiment work. But if students find difficulty in the experiment will certainly ask it back.

After the tools and materials have formed a miniature to test the bicycle dynamo work, they just test by turning slowly and quickly so they can see the difference between the two. They record all the results that have been made to be an insight or experience about the bike dynamo and to bring up creative ideas others.

Conclusion

In general, energy is a necessity used by us every day, as well as the energy of the dynamo that has been discovered by faraday. The dynamo is a device whose principle of action is based on electromagnetic induction. The inventor of this dynamo was first by Michael Faraday. The bicycle dynamo is a small generator that can produce a small electrical current. In principle, we know the dynamics of the bicycle is the energy of motion in the change into electrical energy, so that the lights on the bike can be lit. The dynamo will generate alternating current (AC), or also often called the alternator. And the last the student understood what they have done.
