My best painting, combination of two Masterpieces "The great wave" and "The starry night" #Art

Hello Dear, today I return with a post of collection, because it is a tribute to two Great Works of art, which in both cases came to be called as the Opus Magunm of its authors.

To start we have a The Great Wave off Kanagawa , that is a Japanese print of the artist Hokusai, also Japanese painter and engraver. It was published between 1880 and 1883 and millions of copies were made that were acquired by collectors, making it one of the most famous images of its kind.
On the other hand we have The Starry Night considered the masterpiece of the post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh, painted in 1889 (curiously in the same decade as "The Wave") is still one of the most reproduced and famous works worldwide.
Already with this brief introduction about the works that are honored we go to:

How was this painting painted?

The materials were the usual ones:

  • A card of 48 cm wide by 32 cm long
  • Thin and thick water-based markers
  • Permanent markers
  • Graphite pencil (only for the sketch)

We get to work!

Before starting, I want to say that the first part of the wave is not drawn by me, but by the beautiful portrait artist @PetterJosph who abandoned the work to its fate for years until I wanted to finish giving it life, Thank you, dear!

Here we have the first sketch of the wave already inked with marker, this black marker is very thin and water based because the idea is that it also dilutes in some parts when ironically, wet the wave. Note that this painting was made based on several assemblies found in the network, but the wave was made based on the original work using the technique of copying the drawing through a grid which will allow it to look as similar as possible.

We paint and we go shading the wave, trying to look similar to the original, but I'm not very exact when I copy, personally I like to leave some of my style in the works, so the shadows are diluted a bit, giving an effect light watercolor, while still resembling the original work.

Here the wave continues to give some war, I mean that it is wonderful in its complexity and spend hours trying to imitate it, it is the reason why it is an icon.

And we said that the sky appears and the starry night appeared!

They will ask, Why is there no step by step of "The starry night"? The answer is simple, I lost myself to the Van Gogh while I was doing it, I forgot that I was taking the progress, it is a beautiful and fun work to imitate, I was adding blues and putting touches of yellow so that they would flit around the moon, this painter has a lot of mysticism and magic in his works, I understood because it is one of the most imitated works, I think we all want to feel Van Gogh at least a second.

This is one of my favorite works, I do not think it's my favorite because paintings are like children, you can not say openly that you have a favorite one. However this permanent exposed in my gallery.

I hope you have fun with this post of masterpieces, kisses of the artist.

follow my steps…
