"Be joyful in your festival...You shall have nothing but joy."
Let me go to the field & glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I shall find favour.
Ruth 2:2
James Tissot, "Ruth Gleaning", 1900. "Ruth with grain in her hands and tucked into her belt stands separately from the other gleaners, looking expectantly, toward the edge of the field." (Ruth 2) Counting the Omer.
Then everyone who is left of all the nations that went against Jerusalem will go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and celebrate the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles). 17 And it will be that whichever of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, there will be no rain on them. 18 If the family of Egypt does not go up [to Jerusalem] and present themselves, then no rain will fall on them. It will be the plague with which the Lord will strike the nations who do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles). 19 This will be the [consequent] punishment [for the sin] of Egypt, and the [consequent] punishment [for the sin] of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Feast of Booths (Tabernacles).
Zech 14:16-19
The Recitation of Hallel. Only miracles occurring in Israel merit the recitation of Hallel. A Full Hallel i.e. all six Psalms, in their entirety, is recited on all nine days of Sukkot (including the “eighth” and “ninth” days, Shmini Atzeret & Simchat Torah).
Tabernacles, Artist: Marc Chagall, 1916.
37 Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink! 38 He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.
Jn 7: 37-38
"A good land—a land with brooks, streams, and deep springs gushing out into the valleys and hills; a land with wheat and barley, vines and fig trees, pomegranates, olive oil and honey." The Seven Species in mosaic by Dafna Birger
Don Finto says, "The season of Sukkot or Tabernacles is not only the time when Israel left Egypt, but also, Jesus tabernacling with us. In the future, we are all going to go to Jerusalem to celebrate the Lord. And in the future beyond that, we are going to live together: God & man together."
Draw water with joy from the wells of salvation... If anyone is thirsty..
"Be joyful in your festival...You shall have nothing but joy."
