Hi Everyone,
As it is winter in Australia, the only thing you think about when you are having a meal is to find something warm. Over the weekend, I met up with my old colleagues and wanted to try out a hot pot restaurant called Hotpot City. It is an all you can eat buffet and each person will be given an individual cooking pot which for us was perfect. Traditionally with hotpot, everyone cooks their food in one pot with one soup base and dig in but as time changes, many restaurants have changed these to individual pots for hygiene purposes and people can choose their own soup base.
Lets check out the menu. The menu was very simple because it is an all you can eat restaurant. What you need to choose from the menu is which soup base you want.
I chose the mushroom soup base. My other friends chose chicken and one friend wanted to try the extra spicy one. Looks hot!
So while we were waiting for them to prepare the soup base, we went to check out the sauce station. There were at least 20 types of sauces and ingredients to mix and match. They provided a chart to suggest some combinations you can use for an “epic” sauce
Lets check out the food on offer. There were a lot of traditional hotpot ingredients like different types of fish balls, beef, seafood, mushrooms, vegetables … the list goes on.
They ask people to not waste food or you will be charged a fee
Here’s my first plate of food. Fresh and lots of variety
This restaurant doesn’t have a lot of table service so you can get water from the water station.
On a Saturday night, the place was packed. There was also a line for tables but luckily our friend booked for us. The cost of an adult was $35 for 90 minutes which I thought was not long enough. Will I go back again? Probably not soon as it is a 45 minutes drive from my house plus for $35 per adult, I can get a lot of food and eat comfortably at home without the thought of rushing to eat everything by 90 minutes.
