Steemit Bootcamp on 24/3 @Sunway Nexis Office

This is my first face to face steemit Bootcamp and meet up with few of teammalaysia members such as @maverickfoo, @bitrocker2020, @zord189, @aaronleang, @joannewong, @orangila, @coachmelleow, @digitalmind, @tifaong, @littlenewthings, @karinzdailygrind and I'm so glad that finally I can meet them in physically and not photos anymore as I usually can't attend teammalaysia meetup and only able to see their faces photos! The Bootcamp was conducted by @maverickfoo and @bitrocker2020 at Sunway Nexis Office Greatness Central (also known as Greatness Central. The main objective of the Bootcamp is to guide new steemians on some basic knowledge of what is steemit and how you can earn cryptocurrency by writing, upvote (like), and comment on the platform. It is a very good and informative session for all of us as most of us are just joined weeks ago and some joined months ago.

Maverick share with us how to solve the writer-block problem with "Chunking" method to generate ideas. At first, I was quite struggling with breaking down the topic that I wanted to write on. But after Maverick shares with us some example of it, I found out the chunking method really increase my speed of generating ideas.

The Most Dangerous Writing App? What the hell is that?

He then told us that is not the most nervous and scary part, the scariest part is when you need to write nonstop and it is quite challenging for people like me as I haven't reached to that level yet. So to solve that problem he introduces all of us this website called "The Most Dangerous Writing App". So what this website does is basically you need to write non stop in 3,5,10, etc minutes without stop for like 3 second. If you stop writing in 3 seconds you will found out there is a red border keep glowing to the point you will fail and all your writing will be gone! So to keep your writing you have to write non stop for 3 minutes for example. Once the timer is over, you can start again or download or copy and paste your writing and continue on it.

Previously we write using "softcore" mode and next exercise will is writing nonstop in 3 minutes in "hardcore" mode turned on! If we fail we don't get our lunch! So what is the different between "softcore" and "hardcore" mode? Basic rules still applied in both mode, but in "hardcore" mode you can't see what you type, your writing is being blurred by the app and you can't actually backspace so much since you can't really see what you write. 3 minutes pass and we did compare the number of words we write in both mode and the result is quite surprised me. Guess what? In hardcore mode, we write more about 20-30 words compared to softcore mode. The reason being is because when your writing is being blurred and the only thing you can do is to focus on writing and hence you actually write more compared to softcore post.

So the lesson from above is to keep writing without backspace or pause too much to think and read back your previous writing. Often time you spent too much on read back, backspace, check grammar and hence it prolong your writing time and you are actually distracting your mind during writing. It should be free flow of writing and just write whatever comes to your mind. Don't think about whether what you write is related or not first, just keep writing and you gonna edit your post at the end eventually.
