The First Official Steemfest TeamPhilippines Event Has Concluded And It Was INTENSE!
We hit the town and on-boarded tons of new people to Steemit and TeamPhilippines, ate what quite possibly could have been the very first cake with Steemit and TeamPhilippines written on it, did the hula hoop, ate korean food, and hit the club for team bonding and spreading the word, and of course had some great discussion and Q&A about Steemit, Steem, and the blockchain! We even had one of our TeamPhilippines members video-call us all the way from Qatar to join in the event!
Everywhere we went people asked about our fancy shirts, what is Steemit and how could they sign up! Even the taxi and uber drivers in our caravan as we went all over Metro Manila inquired and told us they'd sign up as soon as they got home!
What Was Covered?
We discussed the blockchain and exactly what that is, why it's important and how the technology works both for Steem as well as other cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, and ethereum.
We also went over the fact, thanks to some newbies, that Steemit is in fact NOT a scam or a ponzi scheme which led to discussions about how it all worked, how to convert Steem into Pesos with or without a bank account and the differences between Steem, Steem Dollars, and Steem Power.
One of the most discussed topics was regarding the value of upvotes.
We discussed that the more steem-power you have, the more valuable your upvote or flag is. That this not only increases the amount paid out to people when you upvote their posts, but that it also increases your own curation rewards for upvoting quality posts on steemit. This of course led to the importance of upvoting QUALITY content, and not flood upvoting trash posts and spam due to the fact that Voting Power decreases at 2% per upvote and only recharges at a rate of 20% per 24 hours.
Another popular question that we covered was the fact that many people had noticed that over the period of the 7 days after posting an article and receiving the rewards from their post, they noticed their estimated rewards dropping in value, sometimes by over $20 for a post initially estimated to be valued at over $50. We were able to clear the air on exactly why this happens with the fluctuations in price of Steem, as well as the amounts of votes going out and decreasing supply as more votes are cast.
Tons of New Members to Steemit and TeamPhilippines!
We are very excited to be able to have encouraged quite a few new people to sign up for Steemit and join TeamPhilippines. This happened both at the event, as well as later when some of us hit the town wearing our swag Steemit TeamPhilippines shirts spreading the word, bonding, and having a great time as a group!
Enough talk though, Here are the Pictures and Videos I know You're All Wanting to See, given we went to multiple places on our mission I've seperated by which city the pictures were in.

Overall, we all had a really great time, bonding, learning about each other, learning about steemit, spreading the word about steemit and teamphilippines, dancing, and eating! For all of you that were not able to make it this time, we hope to see you at the next event, i'm sure it'll dwarf this one by comparison as we continue to organize and grow!
