TeamSingapore first meetup - A night of fun and laughter + Receiving my first payment in SBD!!!

Hey Steemians! It is Labor Day, a public holiday in Singapore today. Yesterday, 30th Apr 2018, marked a special day in #TeamSingapore's history as we had our very first meetup! The event was held at 49 Seats, The Centrepoint. Besides the few #TeamSingapore members, a member (and his wife) from the Japanese Steemit community, @moromaro, was also with us at the dinner. It was to our great pleasure to host them. In addition, we also had a soon-to-be Steemian among us!

The event started off slightly awkward as I could not associate all of them with their Steemit usernames. But the ice broke very quickly as we began talking about how and when we started our Steemit journey. We found that @fr3eze and @jessie901220 started the earliest among us. Followed by @jrvacation, @seandeanayao and myself who started late last year/early this year.

We then continued to talk about our own life and what we do outside Steemit. Along the way, I realised how culturally diversed #TeamSingapore is. With just that handful of us at the meetup, we have folks coming from Malaysia, China, Philipines and Singapore. I think this is something unique to #TeamSingapore and I am truly proud of it. Towards the end of the dinner, @rockysmarties surprised us with his camera tripod stand and we took a picture together.

Such professionalism. I hope @rockysmarties will be our official event photographer moving forward. Haha..

At the end of the dinner, @jrvacation prepared some gifts to the Japanese community and @moromaro also gave us some snacks in exchange!

A few of us continued the evening at a nearby cafe while we try to convince the soon-to-be Steemian to join and helped her think of an account name 😆. @seandeanayao was also there sharing his award-winning dTube video which I encourage everyone to go take a look. It is just a minute long and I assure you it will be a minute well-spent.

At the end of the day, the coolest part was that I was paid in SBD for the dinner! This is my first time receiving a cryptocurrency payment and it is in SBD. How cool is that!? @fr3eze was commenting that it is time to make use of the feeless and instant payment method. I fully agreed to that 😎!

Thanks again to all who were there!

From #TeamSingapore:

Our special guest from Japan:

  • @moromaro. Hope you and your wife enjoyed the dinner! Also wishing you a happy anniversary and please enjoy your time in Singapore. There are many fun places to visit and good food to eat!

Special thanks to @seanytan for your remote support of this event! Haha...

To the rest of the members of #TeamSingapore, hope you guys can join the next time. And in the spirit of decentralization, please feel free to organize small gatherings through the Discord server. Our community is considerably small and it will great if we can all put a face to the usernames and build a close-knitted community.

I am now looking forward to the HK-JP-SG Cross Community Challenge. I am honored to be one of the judges together with @moromaro. It will start on 4 May, please submit your entries and don't make my job as judge too easy....
