This is apparently a smartphone that will be open-source and run on a free-less blockchain. The company behind $14,000 Solarin smartphone, will be developing this smartphone known to be called Finney. Named after bitcoin pioneer Hal Finney.
According to Sirin, all Finney devices (there's an all-in-one PC coming, too) will form an independent blockchain network powered by IOTA's Tangle technology. The network will operate without centralized backbones or mining centers cluttering up the transaction process, using the SRN token as its default currency (only SRN token holders will be able to purchase the device). And it'll all run on a Sirin operating system specially designed to support blockchain applications such as crypto wallets and secure exchange access.
In a time where blockchain technology is gaining more and more adoption, I think this is definitely a step closer to mass adoption of the technology and having the focus on security.
You might have remembered hearing about the Bitvault phone. It is apparently going to ship this November.
The Finney smartphone seems way better and more transparent with their project. Plus the fact that SIRIN LABS will be issuing their own token along with this phone seems like a better deal.

ICO
The crowdsale will launch sometime next year for the SRN token
The ICO will last for 14 days with no cap on the amount of contribution. The tokens will be sold at a fixed price denominated in ETH . The initial supply will be dependent on the quantity of SRN tokens sold.
Here's how the allocation of the SRN token will go:
40% of the total number of SRN tokens will be allocated to contributors during the token sale.
10% of the total number of SRN tokens will be allocated to the Founders and Team and will have a 12-month vesting period.
10% of the total number of SRN tokens will be allocated to OEM's, Operating System implementation, SDK developers and rebate to device and Shield OS™ users.
5% of the total number of SRN tokens will be allocated to professional fees and Bounties
35% of the total number of SRN tokens will be allocated to SIRIN LABS, to be used for future strategic plans for the created ecosystem, and as a reserve for the company.
During the Token sale, there will be a bonus program for the contributors:
For the first 24 hours: allocated bonus of 10% additional SRN tokens to its contributors.
For days 2-7: allocated bonus of 5% additional SRN tokens to its contributors.
for days 8-14: bonus-less
I would highly suggest reading their whitepaper as they lay out their marketing plan and the allocation of their funds. This looks like a very promising project and I look forward to seeing how this one turns out. I may invest in this ICO and try to get me one of these devices.
