Are you Living Under a Ransom Threat?

A few years ago, criminal coders invented a profitable new type of malware: "Ransomware". Its popularity among malware distributors has grown steadily as the tactic of encrypting files and charging for their decryption proved successful.

Most of you would remember what Netflix and Greenway Health has gone through last year.

Just A few days ago, We have seen a massive ransomware attack that goes by the name Wanna Cry. The unprecedented malware attack began sweeping the globe late last week, and security researchers estimated that nearly 57,000 computers in more than 150 countries were infected by the end of the day on Friday.

While the spread of this terrifying ransomware was slowed on Saturday, it was hardly stopped. As of Monday morning, more than 200,000 systems around the world are believed to have been infected. The ransomware holds most or even all of the files encrypted on your computer, Showing a Pop Up of demanding 300$-600$ and deleting all files if not paid.

While the most affected of this ransomware were large companies and organizations, including banks, hospitals, and government agencies, An Important question must pop in your mind.

If Big Business Organisation Paying thousands of dollars for their Internet security are easily vulnerable to Ransomware, How safe could be You from a Ransomware attack?

According to the latest annual report published by the security team at SonicWall, their Global Response Intelligence Grid estimates that around $209 million in ransoms were paid in the first quarter of 2016 alone.

Less than Half of the Victims who were attacked were able to recover their data.

That indicates a couple of things:

  • One is that you can't always rely on ransomware to fully restore your files.
  • Second is that it's critically important to make sure that you have a bulletproof backup plan that's actually backing up your files properly and storing them somewhere safe.

With demand and supply of new ransomware variants and delivery platforms both booming, this Threat is only going to rise, Reaching from big companies, To normal people Like us.

Phishing Email attachments have become the No.1 trend for Ransomware, One wrong click by the user could lay an expensive security plan as waste.

Staying ahead of the change curve is more important now than ever. As Instead of Antivirus and Cybersecurity Companies working day and night, there is no effective solution to decrypt your files.

Keeping your Important files backup Updated is the only Solution now, Keeping heads-up for the suspicious E-mails and website is even better, As we have always heard, "Prevention is Better Than Cure".
